Excellence in Education

College Management is excellent. It is in hand of few of the best people in the Education Industry. Highly educated peoples who can understand the requirement of both the faculty and the students. Everything is well planned ahead and are executed properly.

In Got into BIT in 2004 through All India Engineering Entrance Examination. I got all India rank of 15000 and state rank of 325 (W.B). I was my preferred college due to various reasons: 1. Oldest College in India specially in Engineering 2. Got very good feedback from one of my relative who passed out from here in 80's. 3. Excellent faculty. 4. Great Infrastructure.

Course curriculum was well defined and as per the latest in technology. Everything which need to be covered for all round experience in the fields of Civil Engineering was defined. Apart from stream specific, there were few courses related to other streams so that student can get good all round of what other streams means. Courses include lot of practical experience with on field activities. College also took us to 20 days of practical training to one the sites where new campus of the college was being built.

College generally does not provide for internship. It is the student who them self have to search for the company to schedule the interview. Professor reference helps a lot. The placement cell will also help the students to get the internship by providing the necessary supports.

Companies round the world comes to the college for Placement. It includes - Facebook, Microsoft, Google, Dell, BCG, PWC, TCS, OIL, ONGC etc. The package generally range from 4-12 lakh on average with the highest package going to even 60 lakh. Almost all the students get placed with few of the students getting more than 1 placements.

College runs lots of events throughout the year. It includes Technical, cultural, management etc. Students from different regional colleges are also invited to participate in the events. Lot of Innovation run in these fests. Everything are managed by the students from getting the fund to Organizing the events and finally the prize distribution. During Cultural fest, food and lodging facility is provided by the colleges to run the event smoothly.

College fees are charged per semester basis. Fees were not that expensive considering its being a private college and with the facility the college provide. Apart from college fees, students are charged separately for Mess. College fees include Tuition, books, hostel etc.Hostel fees are also not that expensive. College offers lot of scholarship to the students especially for students coming from little poor background.

Generally based on the Income statement of the family the scholarship is provided to the needed student. Since the fees are also not that high, so students generally don't apply for these scholarships. Banks offers loan to the students having proper admission documents.

College maintain a very healthy gender ratio. Separate girls hostel are provided with high level of security for the girls. Highest Standard of Discipline is maintain in the Campus . Students are involved in lot of activities. Various events are held in the college for students like Mr. BIT body building campus, fashion shows etc. The college has the best in class sports complex equipped with Tennis court, running track, separate football ground, gym etc

Hostel are quite good. For 1st year and 2nd year students, the rooms are on dual sharing basis, but once you move to 3rd or 4th year, single room is offered. Rooms are quite good and spacious. Bathrooms are clean and maintained very well. Mess food is ok with special food offered on few of the days. Fours Meals are offered in a day starting from 8 in the Morning to 10 in the night. Staff are also very good and cooperative. Service is also very good. Mess are very big and well managed. For every Hostel there are separate Warden and lead from student to take care of managing the things.

College have a huge network of Alumni network. Since its one of the oldest college in the country, alumni are spread throughout the world with some of the best companies in the world in various sectors. Seniors are very helpful. Generally the college is very strict on ragging. Seniors treat the juniors very nicely and help them throughout the college life.

Exam structures are quite flexible with major focus on labs and practical exams. Mostly its Chill but during exams it gets hectic as exams are wrapped in very short duration. Exams are monitored in a very well mannered way. Generally what is taught in the classrooms are asked in the exams. For Practical exams, faculty from other colleges come to evaluate the students. Presentation need to be give to these faculties by the students.

Once the Entrance Exam results were released, I went to NIT Durgapur for Counselling to choose the Course and College. As per my rank I was getting Electrical, Mechanical and Civil in BIT. In few of the NIT's I was getting the same type of streams, but I decided to go with BIT, mesra because of its excellence and reputation. Through random process, I got Civil Engineering stream. I was asked to report to college with certain amount of DD on a particular date. As per the date I went to college to complete the Admission procedure. It was a simple process. We just fill the Admission form and immediately we got the Roll No. The schedule of the classes were share with us. We were allotted to the Hostel and the room number.We occupied our room and started preparing for the college next day.

Faculty of BIT Mesra are excellent. Most of them are Post Doc from either Foreign University or Indian Premium colleges. They were of teaching was also very practical. Most f them are very well experience in the field and had worked in Professional field for long time of their career.
