Second oldest Engineering College of India

It is one of the best Engineering University of India. And I am proud to be part of that. I seriously wish to go back there some day if possible. It was really one of the best days of my life. I not only got a degree and job from there. But the learning, friends, seniors and the memory is priceless.

JEE. I ranked 145. I choose because at that time BE College Computer Science Department was best in West Bengal, and one of the best in India.

In each semester the subjects are routine will be published. On first class Professor will tell what all books and materials to cover and follow. Also if you attend the classes you will be mostly cover whole syllabus. Classes are taken very seriously here. Without those lecture notes it will be difficult to cover the syllabus.

It provides internship in many of its labs. Those are mostly non-paying internship. For few projects they recruit research assistance, where they pay.

Every year many companies come for campusing. Mostly everyone get placements. Also there are few Dream companies come with high salary. Also alumni base is very strong. So you can easily get placed if you are in touch with alumnus. Also there is placement cell who mostly reach out to companies for slots.

There will be one festival called REBECA. It will be also alumni meet. It is a good opportunity to meet huge alumnus base. Also There will be tech fest, where you can demonstrate innovations. These festivals are important from your exposure and communication point of view. Also it will improve your networking.

Its less compared to many other universities of the state. At our times it used to be 800 Rs per semester. But definitely has increased over last 12 years. But there will be hostel charges and mess charges. That can be more depending on which hostel you choose and how the food is planned. There are few which server really good food, but also bill is high.

There are many such scholarships available. Few are from alumnus. Few are from Government. You need to be under a economical group and your result to cross a cutoff to get these.

Hostels are really good. Specially the ones in 3rd and 4th year ones. We call those 'Halls'. Richardson Hall, Wold Hall, SenGupta Hall to name a few. These places are awesome. You get your own single occupied rooms. Also very good collaborative friends around you. In some of these hostels food is really good. Students decides every day menu.

Alumni network is very strong here. You have to get in touch with your seniors and can get a lot of help from them. There are alumni meets every year. Also there are alumni organisation in each city and globally who operates and and active well.

Semester based exam. Will happen every 6 months. Also there will be mid-Semester which will held in between semesters. There will be class tests and assignment based evaluation also. Also attendance is important. Labs assignments carry marks. So attending classes and regularly submitting assignments will cover 30%. Remaining is all based on exam performance.

JEE Rank based counselling. Based on the rank you can choose the course and university from available list on counselling date. After that you need to come to the University and submit the initial joining/tuition fee. They will announce the start date etc.

They are all great professors and well acclaimed in Industry and in other universities. They teach well. Also with their recommendation you can achieve anything. Its important to attend their class and get in touch with them for any clarifications/questions.
