Overall good college

It is a reputed college. Infrastructure is good and environment is very good.It's is in developing stage.

There are many ways to get into nit Agarpara. I took admission in this college through "common entrance examination association of minority professional academic institutes" (cee ampai).This examination is conducted by 5 colleges under jis .this is a minority examination but general students can also apply .I myself is a general student in this examination I secured a rank of 203 .in the councling process I got to choose among the 5 colleges under this examination.

During my time, the college was under West Bengal University of Technology (presently called Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology). Now, the college has become autonomous with its first batch passing out in 2019. My course structure was in accordance with the university guidelines. It is just like any other engineering colleges'. We are given to chose the electives as we want, except in the final year, where we are bound to study the electives which our college provides. Research-related activities are very rare to find in this college. Except a few professors, no one is actively involved in this type of work.

Yes, the college do provide internships for different companies and firms. So one can easily opt for internship through proper channel and application. Easily You can get internship help form college administration and faculties.only some companies provide stipend.

This college has a brilliant placement cell and every year, the percentage of placed students is increasing. Big multinational companies like Amazon, Infosys, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra and many IT-based companies come to this college. Many students got placed in these big companies. I am presently a 3rd-year student of this college in the ECE department and this year, the placement was outstanding. As I am a hostel student, we had 30 final-year students in our hostel and 27 of them got placed. The highest package was 6 lacs per annum from the hostel and 7 lacks per annum overall. The average package offered is 3 lacs per annum. Around 20% students got the internship from the college. Overall, the placement of this college is up to the mark.

We had organised technical fest and cultural fest every year in the technical fest we had competitions like video gaming, innovative projects, robotics etc and in the cultural fest we had arranged several popular singers, dancers to perform we had enjoyed these days a lot.

According to the college, the fee is a bit expensive. During my time in college, first semester fees was Rs. 42,000 and in the last semester, it was 43,500. Overall, about 3.75 lakh was taken in the four years' course. The college is co-operative in facilitating various scholarships like the Merit-cum-means scholarship. But these scholarships are less than what the college actually takes from us. If we look at Haldia Institute, they have slightly less fees and better infrastructure. NiT is nothing in front of their campus. Still we have higher fees than them. I was not satisfied with the fee structure of this college.

Yes ofcourse my college had a scholarship program for toppers of each stream. Their tuition fees waived to half. There were also a loan facility available in my college you need apply for that and after approval you will get loan for all semester in a reduced interest rate and college will do the all necessary arrangements for that.

There are extracurricular programs as well.but the college won't put that much interest on encouraging these programs.

Hostel facilities are not good. From what I have seen in the hostel, the rooms are decent enough. They are cleaned everyday by maids. One room accommodates 4 students and is spacious enough for 4. One important thing is that the food quality is pathetic. SImply pathetic. When I was in first year, the college canteen was still not bad enough. But the hostel food is of very poor quality. Lot of requests and letters are put in constantly by the hostel students, but authorities rarely listen. Even once in these 4 years, they actually did something and changed the food provider. But the new one that came, they also did the same thing. Food quality is average .

Exams are very strictly carried out. Although they are not very frequent, but when internal tests are conducted, they are conducted with discipline. Although in the final year, not much was properly conducted. But, since autonomy, exams are conducted well.But students accepts all these exams friendly because they won't create tired feeling.

Faculty : The faculty members are also good. All of them are ready to help you anytime. They are very knowledgeable and all of them don't just give lectures, they follow the school like method of blackboard and chalk and write things down. The interaction is also good. From the 2nd or 3rd year, industrial visits are organised while English classes are there from the 1st year itself. There's also a placement cell which makes the students aware of the current market situation and the things which are asked in an interview.
