Remarks

I miss college for all the good times spent with friends although overall college was quite neutral.

Entrance Preview

I had written the COMEDK exam and I had secured a rank which was enough to get me an admission into this college. I had done my part of research to guage the colleges that I would be likely to get in with respect to my rank. Also, the course did play quite a good role too in that process. I had chosen the course that I had studied because it was fairly easy but interesting compared to other courses. Also it was the best course for securing a good job. That course was my first preference. There was no interview or anything involved in the admissions procedure. The rank and the availability of seats decided the admission.

Course Curriculum Overview

2.5

Well my course was good enough to provide a holistic view of what the idea is. But practically it didn't provide much freedom maybe because the course curriculum was structured that way. Had my college been a purely autonomous one at that, I guess the course would have been more focused to the practical side although the course in itself does have some limitations to practicality. However the choice of certain specific streams within the course was limited not only due to the curriculum structured by the University but also due to the lack of exposure to other unconventional streams like AI, pattern recognition. It was mostly due to the fact that the course was brought from an academic performance perspective and not completely focused on the learning process.

Internships Opportunities

There were a few internship opportunities in our college but it was quite difficult if you had to go for internships outside of campus as the faculty did not entertain attendance shortage even it was for internships.

Placement Experience

4

This is one thing that I find my college to be highly commendable for. The placement opportunities were so good here that it was almost not possible for anyone to not get any job unless you had other plans or you had some other issue. Of course I was talking with respect to my course. But for some other courses like mechanical it was not so easy although the mass recruiters like Infosys and TCS did hire a few of them. Also we had internship programs for some of our junior batches with reputed companies even for mechanical branch. The major companies that visited were Codenation which provided a starting package of almost 24lpa, there were quite a lot of pool campus recruitment from some big companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart, even Google for that matter but this one was on a worldwide basis through a coding competition.

College Events

2.5

We had anually two fests one was the inter- college fest called Maaya and the other one was the intra college fest. I preferred the intracollege one because ironically more number of students were active for this one than the other.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Because I landed on this course and college through COMEDK, it was not as cheap as the normal or the merit quota fees. I was to pay a sum of one lakh rupees per year as my tuition fee and also there were a few extra fees for the bus and other facilities which I highly doubt whether it was worth paying that much.. maybe a little less. And some students who came through merit did have some difficulty about the hostel being a little pricey for their own luck. As I was a day scholar thankfully I didn't have to bear that one. Yes, the hostel was a pretty expensive deal although the food wasnt great which is not a mystery in any hostel story.

Fees and Financial Aid

The University did provide if I'm not mistaken. I'm not sure about the details as it was based on the annual income of the parents if I'm not wrong.

Campus Life

1.5

To he honest, we did not have enough events were students were actually encouraged to pay attention to anything other than studies.

Hostel Facilities

1

As I had mentioned before, I was a day scholar. Hence thankfully I did not have to bear the extra expense of the hostel while surviving on its tasteless food. The rooms were mostly accommodated on a sharing basis. The rooms were pretty good or so I have heard but I have heard constant complaints about the food being bad. I'm not aware of the charge that they had to pay but I do know that they were not that cheap at least not for everyone.

Alumni/Alumna

We had talks with one or two of our alumni who have achieved really great positions. It was more of a guest lecture than an interaction though.

Exam Structure

We had labs for two subjects for a span of two hours per week. Since our practical sessions only involved us sitting in front the PC in a well air-conditioned room, it was rather enjoyable than tiring although some of the programs did make us feel a little bit tired in the end. Some of the lab faculty were pretty strict when it comes to getting the record books signed and stuff but most of them were pretty easy going.

Faculty

3

There were quite a few experienced people as faculty in the college. They were very knowledgeable in their forte. But when it comes to putting across what they want to convey, it came to quite a few of them as a difficult task to accomplish. Maybe it was because they weren't experienced in the teaching aspect. Also, there were quite a few teachers who were experts in making us understand what is there in the book although they might not be fully knowledgeable in the entire area of the subject which is totally fine for student because as long as we understood the concepts we could figure out the rest! And there were some very honorable gems who used to give us enough freedom to wander outside of the boundaries of the textbook as long as they're in line with the concept. Such people were very much valued as teachers as they had a good control in their forte of the subject as well they never fail to make us understand the essence of the subject. Classes with them were quite enjoyable in fact.
