IIEST, should you prefer it or not?

I choose this course because IIEST Shibpur is famous for its Civil Engineering branch, as all the faculty are well qualified. Talking of student and faculty ratio then on every 5 students there is 1 faculty. So student and faculty interaction is much more. Most of the faculties have done PhD and are specialized in their subject and all are doing some or other projects in which interested students can also take part. The teaching methodology of most of the profs are good, but some need improvement. Exams are conducted with one mid-term exam and one end-term exam.

PWC ( 40k per month) provides an internship in the role of a technical consultant which is good. Accenture (50k per month) also provides a role for a technical consultant. AndInternshipsp in core companies like EIL, PWD, HRBC, and many more companies provide internships to students. IOCL 10k per month.

For my branch, our 2023 batch 65 percent of students placed, and the average package is 8.69 lakhs which is much better for a core branch. And currently also we are working to call new companies in the placement cycle for the batch of 2024. Form 7th semester students become eligible for campus placement. And 5th-semester students are also eligible for some companies which will provide internships plus PPO, which is also a great option. Around 70 offers were made. As our college mainly focuses on further studies so many students don't apply for placement. This time highest was ZS which gave a package of 13.65 lacs. I am talking only for my branch, other all department's average is above 12 lakhs. I am thinking of government job preparation.

The fee structure is like 70000 per semester for students having more than 5 lakh as family income. Two-thirds waiver is provided to students having family income between 1lakh - 5 lakh. And full waiver is provided to students having less than 1 lakh as family income. So no problem happens to students having financial issues. GABESU, ONGC, and many other scholarships are provided to students, some according to their family income and some according to their academic scores.

REBECCA is our college annual fest and is I think Kolkata's largest fest and it is a 3-4 days fest and many bands and Bengali and Hindi singers are called and students enjoy it, not only our college other college students too. Tech fests like INSTRO and others are also organized every year. In our college, a 3-floor library there has a large collection of books and journals there. Like annual sports day is also there and many cricket and football competitions are held in different halls and hostels inside the college regularly, which keeps the interest of students in sports. Many clubs are there like for dancing REFLEXOBITA, for dramatics LES THESPIANS, for photography CATHARSIS, etc.

The hostel facility provided is better than many colleges. Like 90% of students of each batch get the hostel. We get 24-hour electricity and water, so no issue with other day-to-day requirements. The food facility of the hostel depends on the mess manager of the hostel or halls. The price may defer according to the menu decided by students but the overall food quality of every hostel and hall is good. HMS portal we have to register for a hostel and it is allotted according to the distance from the college. In the first and second-year hostels 4 students are thee in a room and third year 3 students are there in a room and 4th year everyone gets a single room. Nearby PG and hostels are available outside the college so no accommodation issue is there for students who don't want to take a college hostel.

The admission process for UG programs at IIEST Shibpur is primarily based on JEE Mains. Eligibility - The candidate must have completed their 10+2 or equivalent examination with PCM as a core subject. And they must have scored 75% or more on boards or must be in the top 20 percentile. The counseling process and seat allotment process are conducted by JOSAA. And further when you are allotted a seat then you have to visit the college's official website, i.e., www.iiests.ac.in. You will get all the admission-related details there. All the notices will be posted on the website and all things will be conducted as per the schedule provided, no delay is there. I had a very good experience with counseling as all the procedure was conducted very smoothly and in a very organized way.
