Remarks

Overall the college is very good. You get to experience a lot of new things and can enjoy there along with getting good placements.

Entrance Preview

I gave JEE mains in 2016. I scored 199 marks in mains and 94.6% in CBSE boards. It resulted in AIR 6739. So, this was enough to get me top branch, i.e CSE in PEC University of Technology, Chandigarh. There was no interview for selection. AIR was the only criteria. I chose CSE branch, because there is a lot of Job opportunities in CSE and this is a branch which is growing everyday at an exponential rate.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum was very well designed. It was designed in such a way, that all our core subjects get completed by 5th semester. So that we can go for a 6 month compulsory internship in our 6th semester. Core subjects are introduced in first semester itself, so that they can be completed by the 5th semester. So, there is a lot of chance that one gets a PPO ( pre placement offer) after the completion of the internship only. So, you may have a job letter in your hand before even starting your 4th year.

Internships Opportunities

Yes. 6th semester is a compulsory internship semester. Most of the colleges provides an internship for only 2 months, but PEC provides a compulsory internship for 6 months. I believe the highest stipend amount is Rs 70,000 offered y Goldman Sachs, and the average stipend would be around 15-20k.

Placement Experience

4

Around 75% of the total students get placed. CSE branch records 100% placement. Major companies that visited the campus are Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Amazon, Amadeus Labs , Maruti Suzuki, Alstom etc. Average Package in the CSE branch is about 9-10 lacs. Overall average package is about at 5-6 lacs.

College Events

4.5

PECFest is organised every year. It holds both cultural as well as technical events. Teams from all over the country come to participate in those events.

Fee Structure And Facilities

I am a student of 2016-2020 batch. So, for me, the fee structure was as follows--> 1) around Rs 60,000 for semester fees. 2) around Rs 60,000 for hostel fees for a year. so, if you are planning to take a hostel, it will amount to about Rs 1,80,000 a year. if you are not taking a hostel, it will amount to about Rs 1,20,000 a year.

Campus Life

3.5

Simply Brilliant. PEC has a very very strong base in extracurriculars. PEC's athletic team was declared the Overall best Contingent at Inter-Technology Athletics meet held at Thapar University 2017 among various reputed colleges like, NIT KKR, NIT JALANDHAR and NIT HAMIRPUR etc. PEC's Dramatics team and Bhangra tea have secured the First position in their respective events held at MOOD-Indigo, IIT Bombay's Cultural Fest.( Biggest cultural fest of Asia)

Hostel Facilities

3

The First year students in there, first semester get double sharing rooms. After there first semester they are shifted to single rooms. Hostels are OKAY, and not so great. They are quite old, but some renovation is taking place. They are charged at about Rs 60,000 a year. The mess food is about average and unsatisfactory at sometimes. There is a problem with less number of Geysers available for hot water in the washrooms. Rest is fine.

Exam Structure

Well there are assignments, quizzes, practical files to be submitted along with the Mid-sem examination and End-sem. So, yeah there are quite a number of things, but if you are landed in PEC college, it means you have already worked quite hard for two years, so you will be able to cope up with all the exams and labs without much difficulty.

Faculty

4

Faculty was highly qualified. Most of the faculty were pursing PhD or had already pursued it. They are quite interactive and encouraged a healthy discussion in the class. Use of modern teaching methods like project and PPTs are regularly used. Overall the standard of teaching was very good.
