Remarks
This college helps a bright student explore their hidden talents, an average student to boost up their self esteem and a shy student to open up to the world. This college has left in each on us a lot of memories to cherish. Each one of us here have learnt a lot, grown up not just academically but Intellectually, Physically, Emotionally and Creatively. My experience at St Aloysius was one of its kind which I really wish could be relived again. It was an awesome, crazy, wonderful and total win win kind of a experience out there. St Aloysius makes us men and women ready to live in the open society and helps us face everything that comes in front of us with a challenge
Entrance Preview
There was no entrance exam we just had to go through a personal interview. I chose the college as the science stream I was taking was well taught of here. I always had interested in Biological sciences and biochemistry somehow was a new a different thing I wanted to go along with which is why I chose to select BSc in Biochemistry Botany Zoology. At present I'm pursuing my MSc Botany at St Joseph's Bangalore.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course taught me more than that was expected of it. We had practical learning in to depth as what we learnt in the labs was more elaborately taught and connected with the theory curriculum. We were constantly asked to involve ourselves in research activities through small projects and as a part of the curriculum we had to do a project in one of the core subject by compulsion. Apart from this a lot of other activities in the College also helped us boos up on our research minds like the national level seminars, fests and so on. Apart from the major subjects we had to take two languages for the first two years of the course and also had to complete a full Foundation Course which comprised of Value education, Environment Science, Indian Constitution, Gender equity.
Internships Opportunities
There were no internships provided by the college, wee were free to do internships outside though, hence I have nothing to say with this regard.
Placement Experience
Well I know not much about the placements as it was not what I was looking for as I wanted to study further. But yes our College did have a placement cell and before the end of the academic year one day placement drive was also organised in our college campus were a lot of companies came to interview our students. The companies that I remember coming to our college were Infosys, MCF, a few corporate banks, and a lot of other companies whose names would probably be given on our college website. I am not aware of the exact % of how many students were placed in the last year but I believe it's somewhere on the higher side.
College Events
We had College fests and Seminars such as Utsav a cultural fest held in the college which was for the students within the college, National level Alyosian fest which had different fests under it like Imprints - Science Fest, Aloysiad - Sport's Fest, Composite - IT Fest, Artbeat - Arts Fest, Acme - Commerce Fest, Asthithva - Cultural Fest. Adding on to these the college under different departments of science held national level Seminars and workshop I. Collaboration with scientists and institutes that were well versed in those areas.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fees structure was definitely affordable. In the first year we had a fees structure of about 13,500 in the second year 14,500 and the final year around 16,000. Apart from this we had to pay a semester examination fees separately before every semester exam which would be around 800- 900.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes the College availed a lot Scholarships and made is aware of the number of government scholarships available. The scholarships helped the minorities and the financially backward students to cope up with their fees. I availed a scholarship by name Sanchi Honnamma scholarship which gave an amount of Rupees 2000 for each year of my BSc course.
Campus Life
It was extremely a great opportunity to explore our talents at St Aloysius. We had a lot of extracurricular activities may it be cultural, sports or social awareness. We also had something called as Sahaya in the first two years of the course which made us dedicate 10 hours of every semester towards social awareness and rural exposure work. We involved ourselves in teaching the government school children, in cleanliness drives, in traffic awareness activities and so on. A lot of competitions help by different associations in the college also helped us keep our competitive spirit alive.
Hostel Facilities
I traveled to college from my house but some of my friend did stay at the College hostel. They have separate Girls and Boys Hostels with responsible warden's and we'll accustomed rooms is what I heard from them. They have 2 and 3 sharing as far as I know. They had a good and clan mess and also had some hostel events which would make their hostel life more enjoyable.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni did have some interaction with the students. They would specially help us by sharing their own experiences with us. They helped the College and students in terms of financial help and supported every activity we initiated so the various fests and Seminars could go along well organized and well planned
Exam Structure
Well exams being a part and parcel of college life were definitely there to remind us we had to keep ourselves focused on our courses but they never seemed tiring or hectic. I would rather say it was a chill culture because at our college apart from Academics we had a lot of other cultural activities and events that made us relax equally as much as we studied. I specifically too part in all the activities I would get a chance to be a part of hence exams would not be a part to be worried of to add on the 2 internals we had would always help to prepare for the semesters.
Faculty
The lectures here are indeed well qualified and experienced in their work. They not only had good knowledge of their respective subjects but also were very good at conveying to us the knowledge and giving us more than that was asked in the curriculum. They were very friendly outside the classes which made us interact with them easily. The standard of teaching overall was good.
