I personally took biotechnology as my BTech course, because my domain was Bio-science in my (10+2), and was always keen and fascinated by biotechnology and its wide applications, as an emerging technology, especially after COVID. All I can say is that the Department of Biotechnology is growing more with time, having vigorous and wide lab applications of different subjects under BT. The faculties are all doctorates with PhD degrees and will assist you with any difficulties. Currently, in our batch, we have a student-to-faculty ratio of 40:7. Department of Biotechnology also organizes a series of events - seminars, webinars, and debates, to help boost students' skills and understanding. Exams are also taken on a regular basis in mid-term test-wise.

the college provides internship facilities to different research sectors like SHRM Biotechnologies pvt ltd, offers biotech-based workshops, excursions, working as a research trainee in different departments of food biochemical engineering, bioinformatics, etc in NIT Durgapur, IIT Kharagpur, Jadavpur University, and various other research institutes. Some of the projects have already been published in Google Scholar.

it provides good campus placements every year. From the end of the 6th semester, the students are eligible for appearing in placements. The college arranges various courses, and mock sessions for GD, PI, and other respective processes for compassing. They also prepare for competitive examinations. Various companies that appeal to recruit students every year, include TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, Cognizant, IBM, Wipro, ZIFO, Accenture, LTI Mindtree, and many other software and IT-based companies. The average to highest package ranges from 3-4 LPA to 15 LPA. The percentage of students placed this year is higher than the previous year, approximately 80-90 % of the students are placed, followed by others opting for higher studies (Mtech), in their respective fields.

We have scholarships- for girls, and government school students provides financial assistance and other scholarship in scholarship programs, and arranges various other programmes. For compassing and placements, various companies like TCS, WIPRO, ZIFO, COGNIZANT, and many more IT-based companies come to hire students. UEMK Dept. of Biotechnology also arranges internships and training for research purposes.

college arranges one of the biggest cultural fests in West Bengal, among other colleges - ECSTASIA. It generally happens once a year in the mid of March to the end of the month, its a two days fest, having a plethora of events, showcasing the talents and skills of students from inter and intra colleges, arranged by the students itself every year with a new spark and theme. Starting from bands to DJs to stars and celebs, UEMK arranges a star-studded fest, making a unique signature. URECKON is our biggest tech fest arranged once every year, to nurture the innovative minds of students to build something out of the box, followed by our literature fest - EUTOPIA. UEMK facilitates various sports activities, Cyclothon, hackathons, clubs of every genre, Gymkhana, Rotaract clubs, and many more. Labs are well maintained, having wifi's and ACs, and libraries have all the necessary subject books, competitive exam books, as well as access to e-book links of required books.

A minimum of 70% is to be acquired in (10+2) board examinations for pursuing Btech. a minimum of 60% is required for pursuing BBA, BCA, etc. WBJEE results are needed, along with (10+2) mark sheets, and Govt. id proofs, and UEM itself takes an entrance exam (IEMJEE), in which one has to qualify. For admission during 2020-21s, the semester fee was 70,000 and the initial admission charge was 92,000 rupees. The admission form can be filled in offline or online mode.

Questions related to general knowledge, aptitude, verbal reasoning and subject-based in the interview rounds. Group discussions (if taken), were generally based on technology-related topics and current affairs. Be confident and relaxed.
