Phaneendra's Review On Raghu Engineering College - [REC], Visakhapatnam

Good Remarks: Faculty were skillful and patient to answer the queries of studentsPractical approach was entertained Sports and Academics were given equal priority. College premises was clean and environment friendly with all the trees. Food was hygienic in the canteens and it was affordable. I had an awesome experience in learning and spending my time within the college premises. A temple of learning where each and every one could find an opportunity to excel in their desired area be it an academic or sports . The environment promoted learning and sharing where we grew as students from children. Cleanliness and discipline weren't just said but implemented in each of our lives during these four years.

I have cleared EAMCET examination to enter Raghu Engineering college . As a result of my rank in EAMCET, I was suggested to take up this college as a part of web counselling process . We didnt have any interview process to enter the college. Our rank was the only criteria to select our desired college. I have chosen electrical engineering as I was passionate about the concepts in Physics during my intermediate education and the motivation to see my country with an un-interrupted power supply.

The learning and knowledge that I acquired from my college was outstanding . Practical knowledge was given the utmost importance where we practiced and understood these concepts in our labs . We had instructors and lab technicians who guided us and also warned us of the precautions of the technology we were dealing with. We visited power plants. sub-stations and grids for a deeper understanding. We spoke to the employees working there and learnt their daily activities .

Raghu engineering college didn't provide any of the internship for students . But, we were given the flexibility and freedom to attend internships in other colleges and companies. The college also supported and suggested a few colleges and places where we would have a good experienced if we have pursued internship there.

We had a dedicated team who looked into the placements, they hired specialists to train us on aptitude and interview process. We had mock interview sessions and aptitude exams every week to prepare us on the real time scenarios. About 80-85 percent of the students got placed, while the others looked in for higher education (MBA, MTech). Major companies that visited the campus: 1) LnT 2) Genpact 3) NTT Data 4) Seoyon Automotive Pvt Ltd 5) Youngshin Automotive India Pvt Ltd 6) NVH India Autoparts Average package : 4L per annum

We had a technical symposium each year in the month of October that was organised within the campus. We had events like paper presentations, poster presentations, elocution, group discussions, sports and many more. Stalls were setup with games and fun activities where students from various colleges actively participated. The fest was pretty big, the whole campus had the activities going on where all age groups were invited . We usually have an average head count of 7000 people attending each year. The setup of the fest was very organised and planned from the authorities. We had student bodies governing the dignitaries, honoring the guests and managing every activity .

BTech Tuition fees per year : 85000 Rs MTech Tuition fees per year : 57000 Rs Bus fees : 8000 for Vizianagaram 15000 for Visakhapatnam It was quite affordable for majority of the students. However, there were scholarships awarded by the Andhra Pradesh government for students with poor financial background .

The college didn't provide any scholarship but thanks to the Andhra Pradesh government who provided it for the financially poor background students. I didn't avail any of the scholarships as the fees was affordable . The college didn't help in getting any of the loans from bank.

Our college gave an excellent support to extracurricular activities. We could choose and join our desired activity like karate, sports, music, painting and dance . I got ample time and opportunity to explore my inner talent where I learnt flute and basketball.

Raghu Engineering college doesn't have any hostels or rooms . But they had guest rooms inside the college premises in case if any dignitaries insisted to stay back at the college.

We had quite a number of sessions with the Alumni's during our final year either by personal meet or via Skype. I had a nice experience in my discussion with my Alumni where they have made it clear the expectations of their company and the outside world. The Alumni has shared his experience and a track plan for final year students and led to the overall development of the college and to us.

Exams and labs were very frequent . We had mid exams and lab practicals every 3 months but it wasn't tiring as we always found something interesting in our subject and labs provided us a real view scenario.

The lecturers especially in my department ( Electrical technology ) were highly qualified in the subject (Mtech, Phd's) and they have practical experience too as they have worked in LNT company and various power plants . They shared their experiences and real-life scenario's and were open to the dumbest of the questions. I appreciate their patience where they took time to explain the concept repeatedly . They encouraged innovative thinking in us by putting up the current problems that industry was facing.
