Course Curriculum Overview
I was admitted to the course B.Tech in Civil Engineering as this was the course allotted to me through the counselling procedure. There are around 120-130 seats for the course. The institute maintains a faculty-student ratio of 1:10. Faculties are highly qualified as our institute is an INI. The terminal exams were held regularly at intervals of 4-6 months. Each Semester has 2 exams first is Mid sem exam, then End sem exam. Between one mid-sem and end-sem, there is an interval of 2-3 months. Semester exams can be passed with good grades if you study regularly from the beginning.
Internships Opportunities
As a first-year candidate, I don't know much about visiting companies and internships. I know that various MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, etc visit our college during the placement season and offer jobs to the students of our institute.
Placement Experience
As I am a first-year student I don't have much idea of the packages offered but know that they are decent. We can sit for placements in our fourth year. I only know that being a reputed institute placements are up to the mark.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is affordable as many scholarships can be taken by the students. The reservation benefits play a major role in cutting down the fees. A special scholarship named GABESU is given by the alumni of the institute to deserving candidates who score good grades in the semester examination. As I am still a first-year student going to my second year, I have no idea about the jobs and stipends received, but I think that as a government institute, students receive good stipends.
Campus Life
The annual fest of the institute is The REBECA. As our institute is the second oldest Engineering College established in 1856, The REBECA is the oldest fest of India. It is basically conducted in the month of April every year. The tech-fest of our institute is known as INSTRUO. It is conducted in the month of September. The library of our institute is known as the Ramanujan Central Library. It has a collection of more than 1000 renowned books, journals, etc. The classroom has the capacity to hold classes for over 90-100 students. It contains projectors, LCD screens to enable the AV mode of teaching. Our institute has mainly two grounds for sports like football, and cricket. It has one badminton court, one basketball court, and one volleyball court. Each hostel has its own badminton court and table tennis room where we can play sports. There are various clubs such as Lit-Soc, Euphony, Reflexobeta, Robodarshan, Scage, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels have 24X7 electricity, water supply, and free Wi-Fi services of up to 25 Mbps. In one room 4 students are accommodated till the second year. The hostels have good quality food. Water purifiers have been installed in the mess section. There are washing machines in every hostel.
Admission
The admission process was in offline mode. You will be allotted a seat through JoSAA or CSAB counselling. In order to get a chance you have to appear for the JEE MAINS examination and score decent marks to get a good rank. There are reservation benefits available. This is the best way of counselling.
