I opted for metallurgy and materials engineering at IIT KGP and at IIEST SHIBPUR but unfortunately my JEE advanced rank wasn't sufficient enough to get me enrolled at IIT KGP but fortunately I landed at B.E college . Here I have chosen this course as I was interested in pursuing my further studies based on nano particles/nano materials or computational materials engineering. Our esteemed professors are highly qualified. If you want a ratio then 9/10 of them have done their PH.D or post doctorate either from best foreign universities or from IITs/IISC/JU/BESU(name of IIEST till 2014). And Mid Semester exams are conducted every 3 months of starting the course and End semester paper is done after 6 months of starting the course and Class tests are taken by our professors to maintain good academic decorum.

No. Of companies that visit our campus for providing internship programs are less (mainly for the core engineering disciplines) (my POV) . But the research internship opportunities are very awesome here . Students get internship opportunities at IITs/IISC and also they bang internships opportunities at foreign universities through Mitacs globalink program (for Canadian universities) and through DAAD scholarship (for German universities)

Placements at our college are at par compared to other colleges , ROI is very decent too . For branches like CST/IT avg placement is 19lpa , for ETC it is 16.5lpa , for EE approximately 10lpa for mechanical and materials engineering it is 8.8lpa for civil and mining it is 8.7lpa and for aerospace engineering and applied mechanics it is approximately 8lpa(this data is for the batch of 2019-23) . Companies like Google , Microsoft, Amazon, DE shaw , Deutsche Bank, tata steel , tata metallics , L&T , JSW, JSL , HSBC , PWC, Texas Instruments, SAIL etc come for campus placements . Some of the students get PPO too . Most of the students get placed our median salary is approximately 8lpa .Mostly students go for internship programs from third year and they are eligible for campus placements from third year itself

Fee structure: (For General category students) Approximately 70000/- every semester and if you are a hosteller then approximately 30000/- every semester . For SC/ST category and for students whose annual parental income is less than 1 lakh there is Full waiver on tuition fees only (if you are a hosteller you need to pay the Hostel fees accordingly) . For students whose annual parental income lie between 1lakh to 5 lakh there is a waiver of 66% on tuition fees ONLY . If parental income is greater than 5 lakhs then there is no waiver

Our campus is awesome, totally lush green with 2613 number of trees . Social life will leave you awestruck as initially you need to visit the senior hostels wearing Formals to give your INTRO ,and after few days everything will be CAZZZZ(Get used to this lingo ) the hall culture is amazing , we have namely 5 halls(Wolfenden , Richardson, sengupta, MacDonald, sen) and these halls organise their own sports meet every year .The campus has 3 lakes, mainly the neem lake which is absolutely a wonderful place to hang out as it is just opposite of SLATERS HALL (where the music aficionados meet every evening) . We organise the Oldest Cultural fest of INDIA , THE ONE AND ONLY REBECA , we have 4 days of pujo and endless ULLASHH . We also organise Kolkata's largest tech fest Instruo . We have two wonderful grounds namely LORDS AND OVAL(I am totally aware of what I have written ) . We have (coding,literary,debate,music,dance,robotics) club and EDC(entrepreneurship development cell) .

All the students don't get hostel accomodation , for boys atleast the distance should be 90 kms (hostel accomodation is not a problem for students of other states , it's mainly an issue for the students who are located nearby like distances within 50-60 kms ) . Hostel fees vary from first to fourth year . First year hostel+mess fees is approximately 30000/- per sem and it increases slightly as we get promoted. For students who don't get hostel accomodation nothing to worry about as there are numerous PG surrounding our college . And the convenience is also very nice .

Our college IIEST SHIBPUR (Erstwhile B.E college ) takes admission through JEE main . The brand value of BENGAL ENGINEERING COLLEGE (B.E College) is huge and IIEST is trying to cope up with its legacy (it's doing pretty well these days after COVID phase ).Our campus is of 123 Acres , it's totally lush green with 2613 number of trees and our campus looks mesmerizing in rainy season mainly . Course fee per semester is approximately Rs70,000(for general category students ) and there is complete waiver for SC/ST students and for those students whose family income is less than 1 lakh per annum. There is two third fee waiver for candidates whose annual parental income lies between 1lakh to 5lakh . Reservations are available (as any other central University would give ) ; there are reservations for SC/ST OBC/EWS and 10% seats are reserved for Girls . As of improvement is concerned I would like my college authorities to focus on infrastructural development.
