Course Curriculum Overview
The Metallurgy department here is one of the oldest in India and that was the reason for me choosing this college. The department gives ample opportunities for research also. The faculties are good and helpful. Term exams here are of moderate difficulty.
Internships Opportunities
Internships are provided in 3rd year of college. From the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, this year a lot of people got internships at various places like Mitacs, Tata Steel, etc.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placement from the fourth year. A lot of companies like Microsoft, Samsung, Amazon, Adani, HSBC bank, Deutsche Bank, Texas Instruments, Tata Steel, Vedanta, and Media.net come to our college for placements. For the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, the highest package was 11.89 lpa and the average was 8.48 lpa with 84.3% of the students getting placed. There were also 4 GATE rank holders under 200 from our department this year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The course fee depends upon your family's income. If the family income is above 5 lakhs, the fee for 4 years is 544000. If the family income is greater than 1 lakh but less than 5 lakhs, the fee is 210664. And if the family income is less than 1 lakh, the fee is 44000 for 4 years. You can divide the fees by 8 to get the fees per semester. You can get various scholarships here like the GAABESU scholarship. The placement opportunity here is huge. Due to its rich history of great alumni, this college has a lot of connections in various companies. The average package of the Metallurgy Department is 8.48 lacs. The hostel fee is a nominal 35000 per semester.
Campus Life
Life at the campus is tremendously amazing. Different fests are held all over the year. The annual fest REBECA marked its 82nd edition in 2023. Instruo is the name of the tech fest of this college. There is a huge library where you can take books with your ID card. Different sports tournaments are held in this college like Wolfame, SPL, etc. Also, you can participate in Inter-NIT tournaments. There are a lot of clubs in this college. For music there is Euphony. For Photography, there is Catharsis, For videography, there is Camerabuff. For Dance, there is Reflexobeta. For Drama, there is Les Thespians. For Literature and Poetry, there is LitSoc. For Debate, there is DebSoc. And a lot more clubs are present.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel Accommodation currently depends upon the distance from the college to your home. The current cutoff to get a hostel gets around 60km for boys. For girls, this cutoff gets around 40-50 (it varies every year). In the first year, four people share a room, each of the 4 will get 1 bed and 1 cupboard, and 1 table. There is a washing machine on every floor. WiFi is also installed here on every floor. There is greenery all around the hostel The hostel food is average.
Admission
The admission here is done through JEE Mains for Indian Students, after the JEE Mains exam you have to participate in the JoSAA counseling to get into this college. Foreign students can also get admitted through DASA.
