Course Curriculum Overview
I am a student of "the Department of Metallurgy and materials engineering" and I know this college is quite better for this department as compared to other colleges, this year average. The package was also around 8.5 lakhs, top recruiters are Adani, Accenture, Tata Metaliks, etc. Maximum Faculties are also okay but in many cases, you have to be careful about attendance, etc. For each semester there is a mid-sem and end-sem. And do not take these exams lightly for all subjects, you have to study for some subjects like physics and maths in the first year.
Internships Opportunities
Many internship opportunities will be given by many companies and different IITs, and NITs, and for increasing those opportunities you should make some projects and do some tasks under the guidance of college professors and yourself. Internship plays an important role in your CV.
Placement Experience
Placement is given mainly after the fourth year or in the fourth year, in 2nd and 3rd year you get an internship. Top recruiters are Amazon, Microsoft, Tata Steel, PWC, etc. Packages are nice in 2022 and 2023, as per the data highest Package was 45 lakh in 2022. The percentage of students getting placements is also more than 80%. After graduation, you can apply for GATE, and if you have other plans you can follow that.
Fees and Financial Aid
Course Fees in all NITs are the same only other charges are different. And for reserved candidates, they do not have to pay the course fees and the fee waiver policy is also there for annual family income below 1 lakh there are no tuition fees similarly 2/3 fee waiver for annual income below five lakh and more than 3 lakh.
Campus Life
This college is rich in clubs and extra-curricular activities, music Euphony, for photography Catharisis, For dance reflex beta, and much more entrepreneurship knowledge can join EDC. Tech fests Like Instruo, cultural fests like Rebeca, and many more departmental fests are conducted annually. Campus life is very good.
Hostel Facilities
In the room they will just provide you with a bed, an almirah and a table and other things you have to manage yourself, in a mess meal quality is not good, especially for vegetarians for nonveg food it is quite okay. Hostel allotment done at the time of admission, the hostel is allotted on the basis of distance from home. Therefore it's quite difficult for candidates who live nearby Kolkata. PGs are there nearby the college.
Admission
As IIEST Shibpur is also an NIT, so admission process is similar to other NITs and IITs, you have to clear jee main exam and through josaa and csab counseling you can get admission to this. If a seat is allotted to you have to come for other completion of the admission process in a limited time given.
