Remarks
You'll find both good and bad things about the college. But let's be practical and see that it's a government-run institute and is still able to achieve 76th rank in the Top 100 engineering college according to Times Survey. Now that can't be achieved easily.
Entrance Preview
The only exam you have to give to be able to get admitted in this college is your board exams and GUJCET. Of course, there's a high cut-off which you need to cross to be eligible for admission. There are no interview processes whatsoever. It's the best government administrated college in the state so far on the basis of level of intellectual students, faculties and campus selections. This is the reason I landed up here. And I don't regret it at all.
Course Curriculum Overview
As the college is affiliated to GTU (Gujarat Technological University), it strictly follows the guidelines and curriculum decided by GTU. The syllabus is quite comprehensive and covers all the major topics related to my field. There are well equipped laboratories to ensure that students get proper practical knowledge. Students are also encouraged to carry out research initiatives and project works and are also guided by the faculties whenever they need help. Few subjects are student elective and are kept as per majority votes from students themselves.
Internships Opportunities
Although college does not provide any internship, being a student of LDCE is enough for you to get an internship yourself in a good company.
Placement Experience
LDCE is majorly known for its high placement ratio amongst other engineering colleges. I would even say it's the best college if you want to get into good MNC companies, both on and off campus. Last year, the placement percentage was about 45% on campus and even off campus. Companies like Tata motors, Torrent Power, L&T infrastructures, Suzuki Motors, Schneider Electric, T&R, Linde, Accenture, Reliance, Bajaj, ABB, GSFC, GNFC, etc. visited our campus. And this year, we are also anticipating Adobe Softwares to visit the campus, which will be a great event for the institute. Average package is of about 5 lakh per annum.
College Events
The title of my review itself suggests that the campus is always busy with one event or other. May it be a cultural event, a sports event, a tech event or a society welfare event, you will always find a place suitable to your taste in the events. Not a single day will pass by when you'll be bored here. Just keep looking for the activities. Events vary from department level, up to national level. You can be a part of the management team, marketing team, or be a participant in the event. And if not, being an audience is no less fun.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Well, you can say it's almost free learning with a minimal fee of around Rs.1500 tuition fees + Rs.1000 for other expenses PER SEM! And if this isn't enough for you, students are given numerous scholarships worth Rs.5000 - 50,000. This is literally the best thing about this college.
Fees and Financial Aid
Lots of scholarships to add up to your savings. You will find that by the end of the course, you earned money instead of spending it plus you got your degree. I don't think I need to give more details now.
Campus Life
Many platforms to bring out the dancer, singer, actor or the artist inside you. And opportunities in the field of sports are ample. You'll get to play all kinds of games, even the ones you played in your childhood. You have a cricket ground, a football ground, a tennis court, a badminton court, a kabbadi hall. Two giants gardens and a few small ones for outdoor events and numerous auditoriums and AC halls enough for any conferences, guest lectures and other things.
Hostel Facilities
Not all people will find the hostel rooms to be comfortable and livable. But for those who want to keep the expenses low, hostel is a good option with fees of about Rs. 4500 per semester, which is extremely minimum price. But hostel rooms are 4-sharing rooms and are very less in number and you will get a reservation there only if you are really really lucky. So, for the rest of the students, there are a whole lot of PGs and other trust-run hostels very close to the college. Rooms their are available in all range of prices, so you can choose the one which suites your budget the most.
Alumni/Alumna
LDCE has got the biggest alumni network. In fact, many events are sponsored by the alumni. There are many high-tech laboratories sponsored by alumni association of LDCE. It is called LAA. They also provide extra curricular course like coaching for UPSC exams, Music and dance classes, personality development programs, guest lectures, etc.
Exam Structure
It is obviously a chill culture in the college. So cool that you don't have to pay more importance to the attendance if you like to study at home. Two exams per semester ; one internal exam and another external exam followed by viva.
Faculty
Qualifications of the faculties may vary. Some are IIT passouts while some have graduated from a less known institutes but all of them have a lot of experience in teaching. They're always keen to help you out with academics. If you're a slow learner, don't worry. They'll help over and over again until you get the thing right. You may find some faculties to be unnecessarily strict, but most of them are very student-friendly. But my piece of advice - learn to be a self-studying student.
