Life at VIT Chennai

I pursued a B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. The course curriculum was comprehensive, covering various aspects of computer science, mathematics, and AI/ML subjects. The faculty members were highly qualified with extensive industry experience. The faculty-to-student ratio was optimal with around 60-70 students in each class, allowing for personalized attention. The teaching methodology included theoretical concepts, practical implementation, and real-world case studies. Term exams were timely, and passing required dedication and a strong understanding of the concepts. Overall, the course provided a solid foundation in AI/ML and prepared me for a career in this rapidly evolving field.

The placement session at VIT Chennai commences from the final year of the college, providing students with ample opportunities to secure promising job offers. The college has an impressive track record, with around 10,000 students getting placed each year. The average annual package stands at approximately 9 LPA (Lakhs Per Annum), indicating the potential for lucrative career prospects. The college's commitment to excellence is further exemplified by the highest package offered last year, which reached an impressive 75 LPA. Renowned companies such as Microsoft, Intel, Amazon, and PayPal consistently visit the college for recruitment, reflecting the industry's recognition of the institution's talented pool of students. The presence of these top companies provides students with a platform to showcase their skills and secure desirable job offers.

The fee structure for the course ranges from 2 lakhs to 5 lakhs, depending on the student's rank in the VITEEE entrance exam. The college provides various facilities and resources to help students secure well-paying jobs. Although I haven't graduated yet, my seniors have shared valuable insights on the job placement process. The college plays an active role in organizing placement drives, inviting top companies, and providing training and guidance for interviews and resume building. The average package for my course is around 8 lakhs, indicating the potential for lucrative job opportunities. It is evident that the college puts in significant effort to support students in their career aspirations and help them secure desirable employment prospects.

With over 100 clubs catering to various interests such as music, dance, coding, and racing, students have abundant opportunities to explore their passions. Labs equipped with high-quality equipment and classrooms with projectors and smartboards create an engaging learning atmosphere. Admission is based on an entrance exam conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology called VITEEE. Willing students can apply for the exam online. This is an online MCQ exam that will be conducted on campus based on the 11th and 12th-grade NCERT syllabus or any similar syllabus. Students are then allowed to choose their preference for courses during counseling. 5 rounds of counseling will be conducted. The fee structure ranges from 2 Lakh INR to 5 Lakh INR (excluding bus or hostel fees) depending on the rank of the student. Although there is no reservation quota for admission through the entrance exam, NRI students have the option to apply separately which will set them back by around 7-8 Lakhs per annum as academic fees.
