My overall experience was very satisfactory. As the age old saying goes, BMC - Best Medical College. Initially I never thought I would survive the next 5 years here, but now I wonder how would I survive the rest when I'm no longer here.
Entrance Preview
West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (for Medical) (WBJEEM), currently NEET, as WBJEEM is done away with. There was no interview, all that needed to be done was get a decent rank at WBJEEM. I always wanted to be a doctor, hence my decision
Course Curriculum Overview
MBBS is quite a thrilling course to pursue. MBBS course is pretty much entirely based in Practical Learning. The college is involved in all Government Research Program relating to Health and Family Welfare conducted in the District
Internships Opportunities
1 year of Internship is Compulsory. The current stipend amount is 19000
Placement Experience
All students are assured Government jobs as Doctors (Housestaff, RMO etc). The package ranges from 25000 - 50000 (based on your qualification or seniority)
College Events
Several Tournaments are held, especially Football and Badminton. Organisation and Cooperation from all students and authorities were excellent.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Rs 4500 per Semester (total of 9 semesters in the course) is the fee structure.
Campus Life
ROSHNAI - Inter Batch Cultural Event is organised in September every year
Hostel Facilities
3 inmates accomodation per room is alotted at most, there are also rooms with 2 or 1 inmate. Rs. 1200 per month is the nominal Hostel Fee (Government Aided Fee Structure). The hostel rooms are pretty good and clean. PGs are availabe at various costs The food I would say is pretty average, one can't expect mom's cooking at hostels.
Alumni/Alumna
Very Strong, as most are in the same profession under the same Ministry in the state of West Bengal
Exam Structure
9 semesters are conducted throughout the course, during exams it is stressful, but otherwise it is managable, yet I would not say stress free.
Faculty
All faculty are Post Graduate in various fields of Medicine. Being doctors by profession they are very interactive in what they teach and share their personal experiences. I would say the teaching is very good, but after all education depends on self study as well.
