NIT Jalandhar (Biotechnology)

Although I got this branch because of my rank I found it quite interesting also it has lots of scope in the coming year, especially in India. Faculty to students ratio can be nearly 1/12 (for biotechnology precisely). Although all faculties are well qualified but not all of them have good teaching skills. While Some faculty try to explain things passionately while some just came to do their job. Till last year, two minors and one major exam were there but now it's updated to one mid-term and one major examination. Yeah! If your goal is to just pass the exam it's easy, you can do it in 1-2 days of study but for getting good grades you have to study regularly. Also, most of the faculty do absolute marking which also makes it hard for average students to get good grades.

There are many internships available in college. Some of the companies that recruited from our branch were BPCL, HPCL, etc they offered a stipend of about 20000 per month. Core projects for their respective branches.

Generally, after 6th semester, students are eligible for placement. Almost more than 75+ companies visit our campus for Campus Placement. Companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Flipkart, TCS, Wipro etc are major recruiters. The highest Package offered till now is 1.2 cr The average package is around 11.2 lpa Approximately 70%+ of students get placed. I am going for a placement.

Fees structure is designed on a category basis. Rs-176000 Tuition fees including hostel rent (yearly) for general students whose family income is more than 8 lakh. SC and ST students get a 100% fee waiver on tuition fees. Also students with family income less than 1 lakh gets a 100% fee waiver on tuition fee. Students with family income between 1-5 lakh get 2/3 fee remission on tuition fee Approximately 10 lacs for the whole course (if no waiver is applied). No job within the campus.

Campus life is good although the campus is not that big. Utkansh is the biggest cultural fest of NITJ. TechNITi is the tech fest here. Almost all books are there in the library but you won't need them as hardly anyone uses them as everyone has a soft copy Classrooms are well furnished with all modern technical equipment(air conditioned). Lots of club related to sports like cricket, football, basketball, kabbadi, table tennis and lot more .Also gym is there for students (all year). Also many clubs like Bhangra, criminalz crew(dance),netra for photography and lot more are there.

Table, Chair, Beds and Almirah are provided for every student.shared room for upto 3rd year student and single in 4th year. Food is decent in MBH hostels. Registration for the hostel is done on a first come first serve basis No, I haven't rented a room

12+75% and JEE Mains Rank is required. You can apply through JOSSA. Reservation is there for OBC, ST, SC and General EWS students. Category rank is considered during addmission process. Although addmission process is quite simple it can be improved in terms of online process as they usually demand hard copy of documents required for addmission
