What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the campus life as it allowed me to make new friends.
- College library was one of the favourite places and I spent most of the time there.
- Faculty was cordial and helped in case of doubt.
Dislikes
- No job security as placement cell focused mainly on commerce students.
- Opportunities available to students were not like SRCC and Hindu college.
- Experiments in Physics lab took most of the time. So, little time left for other activities.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course as Physics was my favorite subject in school. The faculty-student ratio is 1:30. Most of the faculties of Physics have completed their PhD while others were pursuing it. The teaching method varied from professor to professor, but all of them ensured that students understood the concept well. The term exam dates were announced at least one month before the exam. It was easy to pass the exams. However, some subjects like Astrophysics were difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
There were almost no internships that the college offered. Therefore, students searched the internship on their own. For eg, I applied for an internship on my own and did a SMILE internship. In the SMILE internship, I worked with Alfa NGO.
Placement Experience
Students who are in the 5th and 6th semesters are eligible for placement. KPMG and EY are some of the companies that visited the college. The highest package was around 6 lakhs, and the average package was 3 lakhs. Less than 10% of students in the entire college got placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee for the three-year course was around Rs 45,000. The fee varied each year, but there was no hike as the fees for the second year were more than that of the third year. Some scholarships were available, and one could opt for that if they fulfilled the criteria. For, the Physics department there were no jobs as such but one could still sit in the placements.
Campus Life
The name of the Ramjas College annual fest is Mosaic. It is held every year in the month of March. There is a huge library at Ramjas College, and many books are available there. Moreover, newspapers and magazines are also there. So, if you are a newspaper freak, go there and read it. The classrooms have all the facilities to ensure that they retain the concept taught in the class. There is a ground for students to play basketball, cricket, volleyball, badminton, football, and more games. Additionally, a gym is also there. Dancing, music, drama, and many other societies are there.
Admission
Anyone who has passed class 12th and cleared the cutoff declared by Delhi University for Ramjas College is eligible to apply for that course. The application form is available at the official site of Delhi University, and the application fees vary from Rs100-500 depending on the category student belongs to. Moreover, the application starts in June. Some of the processes in admission are time-consuming. Therefore, it can be digitalized.
