Course Curriculum Overview
The college is best known for its B.Tech course. I chose this course because, from the very beginning, I wanted to become an Engineer. The reason behind choosing Electronics as the specialization is that I have an interest in the subject and wanted to work in Companies like BSNL, Semiconductors, etc. The college has the best faculties and laboratories for ECE. Faculty: student ratio of the college is about 24:1 which believe is pretty good. Faculties have done specialization in their respective subjects and most of the professors were M.Tech from IITs and reputed colleges. Some of our professors have written theses that were published. Faculties have their individual methods and strategies for teaching, they always try to come up with easy-to-understand methods. As per MAKAUT guidelines exams are conducted timely every semester without any delay till now. Exams are of easy-moderate level which is not difficult to pass.
Internships Opportunities
Various Companies like Cognizant Mindtree TCS etc provide internships for the students with a stipend of amount Rs. 15000 per month. During the internship, students are trained in skills like JAVA, DotNet, HTML, CSS, Python, etc.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements from the end of the 6th Semester. There are various programs apart from the academics which take before placements to groom the students in every aspect. This includes Soft skills training, Interview etiquette, aptitude, and reasoning classes taken by external instructors. Many reputed MNCs visit campus like TCS, COGNIZANT, MINDTREE, WIPRO, INFOSYS, HCL Etc. Various core companies and start-ups also visit campus like Vodaphone.AMD, Newgen. These companies offer an average package of 4-10 LPA. The highest package was 14 LPA in Bentley which was grabbed by one of my friends in the CSE department. The Average package is 4 LPA which is offered by most of the companies that visit campus. More than 90 % of students get placed by the end of the course. If still any student/student doesn't get placed, the placement takes the responsibility of the placement even after the degree is over. I am currently doing an internship in Cognizant and planning to join the same.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure of the college for a B.tech degree is Rs. 406200. The fees increase slightly every year to about rs. 2000-3000. This will cost approximately Rs. 1 Lakh per year including the tuition and library fees which are quite affordable considering private college. The college does not provide a hostel facility So there are various seperate PGs for boys and girls which include food and lodging. The rent for PG varies from 5000-7000 per month. If you are a resident of West Bengal then you can avail of various scholarships for financial assistance provided by the West Bengal Government such as the Swami Vivekananda Merit cum Means Scholarship, Bigyani Kanya Medha Britti Scholarship, West Bengal Post Matric Scholarship, etc. I got placed in Cognizant and Mindtree with a package of 4 LPA.
Campus Life
The college is very popular because of the events organized there. There are clubs for various extracurricular activities namely: CULRAV- Cultural Club, ESTRELLA- Film/Drama Club, SPORTIVO- Sports Club, XPLORICA- Technical Club, ADVITYA- Fashion Club. There are different fests organized by different clubs of the college one after the other during March-May. Cultural fest FLAMES happens in April in which famous artists and Bands visit the campus to perform. In the fest, Estrella productions famous celebrities visit the campus and other programs also take place. During the fest of Xplorica, inter-college and intra-college competitions are organized where students show their creativity and make robots drones, etc. Sportivo organizes indoor/outdoor level games with the best prizes There are various fests organized at the departmental level also. There are Facebook Instagram and youtube handles for each club.
