What Students Say
Likes
- The campus life is very good in NITK. We have our own private beach where we can just go and can feel somewhat relaxed.
- Being ranked as nirf 12, I feel myself very lucky to be a part of this institute.
- The peer groups are also very nice. One can just forget about all the stress when he/she is with them
Dislikes
- The mess food is not that good.
- The hostel for first year is not good. Even the first years should be allotted double sharing rooms.
- It is difficult to communicate for those who are not that fluent in English.
Course Curriculum Overview
The placement scenario of NITK is pretty good. Also, the average package of my branch is about 24 LPA, which is more than enough for me. Also, NITK has a Nirf ranking of 12 which will provide me with good exposure. The faculty over here are highly qualified and are quite chill. The student ratio per batch is about 130 to 140. The girl-student ratio is about 1:8. All the faculty are highly qualified possessing degrees from reputed institutions. The teaching method is pretty good and the most important thing is that all the faculty are chill( no need to worry a lot about attendance). After every 4 months, we used to have our end sem exam. In between this, we have quizzes and mid sem also. There is relative grading for each course and passing a subject is not that difficult. Just starting to study a week before the exam is sufficient to score at least 8 cgpa.
Internships Opportunities
Students can get internship from 1st year only. One can take internship in both software and core based on their interests. The roles offered are SDE, backend developer, trainee etc. The highest stipend is about 2 lakh and average is about 30,000 rupees.
Placement Experience
From 3rd year the students become eligible for placement but the students start getting internships from 1st year only. As many as 350 companies visit the campus every year. Some of them are Amazon, Mercedes Benz, oil India, ongc, Microsoft, Adobe, Google, Infosys etc . The highest package is about 45 lpa and the average is about 20 lpa. About 92-93 per cent of students get placed every year.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is different for different semesters. The fee for an odd semester is more than that of an even semester. The entire fee for 4 years of B Tech in this institute will be around 9 lakhs. There is no fee hike (everything is set before only). There is no specific scholarship that the institute provides to the students. But there is fee remission for certain categories of students based on their parent's income as well as their caste. The college provides a great opportunity to get internships as well as placements. The placement percentage is about 93 per cent for B Tech students.
Campus Life
The campus life is very good when it comes to NITK. Two fests are conducted in a year(Incident: cultural fest, Engineer: Technical fest). The incident is conducted in the month of March and the engineer in the month of October. The classrooms are good having projector screens and desks connected with charging points. But there is no AC in the classroom. Sports events are organised very frequently and there are a lot of extracurricular activities where a student can participate to show his/her skills. Various types of clubs are there (including technical and non-technical). Each student is required to join at least one club to get a mandatory credit. IRIS is the website that was developed by the students of NITK where all the academic records of the students are stored
Hostel Facilities
The first-year students are provided with triple-sharing rooms. Then the second and third years are allotted double sharing rooms. One can get a single room only in the final year. Rooms are provided with a bed, a table, a chair and a cupboard. Meal quality is not that great but it is eatable. Registration for hostel and mess is done through our official website IRIS.
Admission
I appeared for JEE Mains exam and my AIR was 17533 under the general category. Then I participated in JOSAA counselling which I was allotted to this college. I qualified JEE ADVANCED too but I preferred this college as I was getting a circuital branch over here. The placement scenario is also pretty good over here. Then I came to the college for my physical reporting and the overall fees for the entire first semester (including the hostel fee) were about 97,000 rupees.
