Course Curriculum Overview
Pro: The Computer Science Engineering Branch offers one of the best placements out of all the colleges in the town and maybe even in the district. The Faculty:Student Ratio is more than adequate and carries one of the best name in the industry. Faculty: This institute one of the best teachers you can find in the industry with NIT and IIT alumni and offers more than adequate support to students. Exams: They are not quite difficult since it is under MAKAUT. The exam checking is lenient and a student with enough knowledge about subjects and the ones who attend college can easily ace in the examinations. Cons: Students are not really provided special care and have to do studies and preparations as expected from an Engineering Student.
Placement Experience
Pros: Fourth Semester students have a compulsory in-campus placement opportunity. Third Semester students have an opportunity to bag internships from product based companies if you have enough Researches or Projects in your pocket. Several Service-based comapanies like Tata, Capgemini, Infosys visit the campus and offer packages from 5-11 LPA Packages depending on your Resume and Performance. Cons: You need to really have a good CGPA and enough projects to land service-based company placements.
Fees and Financial Aid
Pros: Fees hike: Since i joined the college, the fees has not been seen to spike and increased by a moderate 30k this year. Scholarships: The college provides all the necessary financial Assistance in fees payment and avails all required Scholatships that can be availed in West Bengal (i.e. West Bengal Student Credit Card Scheme, Swami Vivekananda Scholarship, Kanyashree, Native Bihar and Jharkand. Scholarships etc. Cons: The Job stipends as heard of is not much for average students. Its really well for Acheievers.
Campus Life
Pros: Campus: Lush and Green Campus. More than you can expect from a 25 acre campus. Fests: One of the best fests in town. Tech Fests has inter campus events and visitors from other colleges are allowed as well. The Cultural Fests is one of the best fun a college student can have in Durgapur (supposedly better than the NIT ones too!) Library: Houses a plethora of books and resources. More than you would ever need in your entire span of four years!! It also has a online library accessible to the students. Clubs: Plenty! Name it and you got it - Cultural, Art & Heritage, AI, IEEE and many more! Cons: All rooms are not air conditioned, it gets quite difficult for students in the summer months attending classes on the Top floors. Library doesnt house many literature books which looks like a bummer to me.
Admission
I opted for the B.Tech. degree in Computer Science and engineering in 2022. I went to the college directly since I am a resident of Durgapur itself, and I was handed the Application form with all the details in the management building (You can ask any Staff or Security Guard). The application process is very smooth and cannot get easier. Make sure to carry a photocopy of all the documents which you submitted during the Counselling process in WBJEE.
Other Applied Colleges
Institute of Engineering and Management - [IEM] | Bachelor of Technology [B.Tech] (Computer Science and Engineering)
I didn't meet rank requirements.
