POV: NiT Agarpara from a 3rd year student

I always wanted to pursue engineering in computer science and I chose this college because of good placement opportunities. The department has many qualified teachers. They are very knowledgeable about their respective subjects and teach very well. Teacher-student interaction is very well. For every 20 to 30 students, there is one teacher. The course contains 4 years with 2 semesters each, which means a total of 8 semesters. Exams are not very tough to pass if you attend classes regularly and study a bit.

The college doesn't provide many internships with a stipend, only one or two companies come on campus for that, most companies offer jobs that include an experience-building internship for 4th-year students. Also at least one completed of the ongoing project is required to be eligible for sit-in placements.

The college provides enough opportunities for being placed. Students can sit for placement examinations from the 7th semester. Many renowned companies come to our college to offer students jobs and internships, such as TCS, Accenture, Wipro, Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, Cognizant, ITC, etc. The maximum package offered here is around 21 lack and on average 6-7 lack is offered. For the last three/four years the placement ratio increased a lot, making the percentage number around 87. I also plan to sit for placement and get a good package.

When I was admission, the total fee for four years of studying here was around 4lacks but now it has been increased by around 1lack which leads to the total tuition fee for four years becoming around 5 lacks. If you're selected from PwD Cota, you only have to pay 500 rupees every year. Except from that, different kinds of government scholarships are avail for eligible students.

The campus life is very fun and full of activities. There is conducted one tech fest(kritanj) and one cultural fest(Navodaya), and both are organized around the month of May-June. The college has its own library with wifi and the library is full of every necessary book you'd look for. The classrooms are also very nice, and well furnished, Smart classrooms are also there which makes learning interactive and more fun. The college has its own sports teams like football, cricket, table tennis, chess, badminton, volleyball and many more. They get to participate in various inter-college and state-level competitions. There are several clubs formed, you can be part of a maximum of two of them, and every year you have to renew your membership, it doesn't cost a penny to join such clubs. I personally have been part of the coding club, cultural club, music club, and environment club.

Eligibility: passing 10+2 with PCM with a minimum of 70% marks. You can directly apply from the college portal or you can take admission through the counselling process of WBJEE or JEE main. No application fees if applied from the college portal. Management quota is available. 2seats for each section of the computer science department are reserved for PwD candidates. The admission process is very easy.
