Course Curriculum Overview
I chose electrical because I have been interested in the core subject since the beginning of my preparation for the JEE MAINS exam. The faculty here are very supportive and highly educated. Every faculty here is a Ph.D. holder. The faculty-to-student ratio is 40:1. Exams are taken on a regular basis. Semester exams are held after 6 months of classes.
Internships Opportunities
The college gave internship opportunities at Damodar Valley Corporation, Durlovpur, Bankura, near Durgapur. We were given the opportunity to learn about the control system lab of the factory. We learned about the structure of turbines and boilers too.
Placement Experience
Placement opportunities at GKCIET are decent, with companies visiting the campus for recruitment. However, the placement cell could work on strengthening ties with more industries to provide students with a wider range of job opportunities. 90 percent of the students get paid and the rest move forward to pursue MTECH from prestigious NITs and IITs.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee structure is around 7000 per semester which is very low as compared to other government colleges which makes it more affordable for many students. The scholarship is also provided on a merit basis like the SVMCM scholarship.
Campus Life
Campus life is very jovial. Annual tech fesr for 2 days takes place in the month of March. The library is well-stocked providing access to a vast array of academic resources. Annual sports are organized for 15 days including sports like cricket, badminton, and athletics including 100m, 200m, 4*100 relay race, high jump, long jump, tug of war etc. Winners are felicitated by the Director on the occasion of the cultural fest.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is newly inaugurated with every facility including lights, bulbs, well-finished rooms and corridors, tables, chairs, and clean washrooms. Meal quality is very good and we have a menu for everyday meals. A different meal is provided every day including veg and non-veg. Gala dinner is organized on the 1st day of every month. Special dinner is provided at festivals. The registration process is very easy and we have two buildings of the hostel which can accommodate 2000 students at a time providing every facility. Rent room and pg are also available nearby college locality.
Admission
The admission process is through JEE MAINS, JELET, WEBJEE. I was admitted through JEE MAINS. Relaxation in cut-off will be given on the basis of reservation. The admission process was smooth and very easy.
