the most realistic review of NIT rourkela, an institute of national importance

the curriculum is hard at NIT Rourkela mainly because of the 85 percent attendance policy and average professors. professors here are highly qualified but many of them don't know how to teach honestly. but student to faculty ratio is good I would say and for the exam part. exams are scary hee due to the fierce methods of penalising used by professors, but you will get used to it, if you start studying 2 weeks before the exam you can easily maintain an 8 pointer cgpa but if you think you can pass just one night of study then you will get disappointed.

On-campus internship opportunities are good but the majority of students go for off-campus internships because on campus only 300 to 400 offers are made for internships and many students don't get internships as well at times.

Placements in my college are descent of all branches and on-campus placement is there, students become eligible for placement from 7th sem and many offers were made last year by more than 200 companies.

The fee structure is very good compared to other private colleges and enough scholarships are provided to eligible students Your fee for your whole span course will be told before the admission itself so no worries about fee hikes during the course period and campus opportunities for internships and placements are pretty good. also, fee waivers are provided depending upon eligibility of family income.

Life at NITR campus is good but outside campus, there is not a lot to explore. fest like Nitrutsav, Innovision, cosmopolitan, Vriddhi and roots are held annually. vriddhi is a sports fest. cosmo is a cultural fest. NU is a fest of film and music society and inno is a technical fest. library here at NIT is pretty huge and books from all the fields are there. classrooms have AC and good benches. sports activities are really good here, however administration doesn't support sports activities because it is more of academic-focused administration but if you want to then you can play your game here. there are more than 70 registered cubs in NITR and students have the freedom to start their own club with the approval of administration and SAC officials.

hostels in nit rourkela are good but mess is below average or sometimes bad and hyigiene is also an issue at times. in room fan cupboard bed table and chairs are provided. you cannot stay outside college campus as it is compulsory to stay in hostel in NITR. hostel registration is very easy and mess menu is average

The admission process was straightforward, to be honest, I took the JEE mains exam and got 96.5 percentile and then applied for JOSAA and CSAB counselling to get admission here, The cutoff for my branch in the open other state category was my rank itself in the CSAb special second round but other branches have multiple cutoffs depending upon the category and rounds you are looking for. eligibility in my college is simply to have 75 per cent in 12th boards and you have to qualify JEE mains exam If you are a foreign student then depending upon your country of origin, there are multiple ways of getting admission here.
