Remarks

There is no good remark and also there is no bad remark about the college. I have lots of memories of the college. Hope the college gets better and better in the near future. The college is growing gradually and within a span of almost 10 years, it is turned into the university. Also, NAAC and NBA Accreditation makes it like ice on the cake.

Entrance Preview

Basically, it was mandatory for us to give JEE as the year which I passed out opted out MHT-CET. So in JEE, I scored only 33 marks and this is because we had to prepare for that exam in only a month. There is no specific reason why I opted this college. I actually wanted a college from Pune university but due to low scored I didn't get any.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

As the Institute(now University) is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur all the course curriculum is decided by them. According to me, the course curriculum is about average. The curriculum lacks in giving practical knowledge of the subject. Importance is only given to theory and hence students can't get what they are studying. How would you get what you are studying when you don't practically do it. This is the improvement I think we need here.

Internships Opportunities

No, till date no internship is been provided but I hope that it would be soon implemented so that students get the real exposure of industry even before actually getting placed. This will give them a confidence and also gain some knowledge.

Placement Experience

2.5

In the year 2017-18, not many companies visited and those who visited, maximum of them were new to us. Here I list companies that visited and the packages they offered. 1. Capgemini(3.15 l.p.a) 2. Globaledge(3 l.p.a) 3. Make Mi Holiday(2.2 lpa) 4. Amazon(2.1 lpa) 5. iASYS(not specified) 6. Dbcom(NA) 7. Just Dial(2.5 lpa) 8. Epic Research(2.5 lpa)

College Events

5

We annually have two mega-events in our college. A technical event called VIBRANT and cultural event called UMANG. As our chairman Mr. Sanjay Ghodawat birthday is on 28th Feb, he celebrates his birthday among all students. Wait there is a twist here. Not only with us but every year he calls a Bollywood celebrity to his birthday and to interact with the students. It is just awesome when u see a celebrity live performing in front of you. This year Tiger Shroff visited the college. Previous year Sonakshi Sinha was called and previous to that year Saif Ali Khan visited. You have many shoots going on in the campus. In fact, Salman Khan's movie entitled "Jai Ho" is shooted on our campus. Apart from all these, there are also other events such as Rotaract's MRIDANGAM, Social Summit etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure is very feasible as compared to colleges nearby us. The total fee for 1 year is around 76,180/- which changes year by year. Apart from these, you get plenty of Scholarships and EBC programs to apply. If you are a hosteller than the fee structure may vary. I think it is around 30000/- extra for hostellers excluding mess.

Fees and Financial Aid

As I am a Jain I have applied to Minority Scholarship provided by state government. It is an easy process to fill the form online and provide all the documentation necessary to the administrative office and within a span of 2-3 months, you get a scholarship if you are fit for that scholarship. The scholarship amounts to 25000/- rupees. The college also provides EBC(Economically backward class) where students having an annual income less than Rs. 1lakh are provided a refund of half the tuition fee of the college. But this is a very tiring process, you have to wait for days and months only to submit the application form. But as they "Sabar ka fal meetha hota hai" it is worth standing in the queue. But if you fall into minority category I will recommend you SGS scholarship. Fast and reliable.

Campus Life

5

Gender Ratio- 60/40 Student Parties- No trip annually, you have to plan it yourself and execute it. Workshops- Various workshops on technical background. Industrial persons visit to give technical knowledge of the same. Events are also organized by committees such as CSI, ACSES etc. Ragging- 100% free ragging institute/university. Sports- Annual sports day in the early weeks of Jan, it is fun out there. Both Independence and Republic day is celebrated with utmost joy and affection. You have a proud feeling standing when your national anthem plays.

Hostel Facilities

5

Hostels are so neat and clean that it feels like home there. You have 24 hours hot and cold water. Purified water is available. Escalators in each building. Separate blocks for girls and boys. A room is shared by four persons which are allocated by the rector. There is no electricity cut(except few cases such as rain and thunderstorm). You also have a TV to watch. Talking about Mess food, there are three Mess counters we have in our college. Each one having their own monthly rates. Apart from mess food, you can also enjoy plenty of snacks and Fast Food counters in the food court. The food court is assigned so amazingly that you will fall in love with it.

Alumni/Alumna

My seniors were not at all helpful if you leave a hand of seniors. All were chilled out, no care about their future and no guidance as well. There is no ALumni meet also this year so that we can interact with them. Lack of communication between the alumni and the faculty members. I hope it improves as it goes further.

Exam Structure

Exam structure is good. As I belong to CSE department, the exam structure was 50mks online(MCQ questions) and 50mks(theory). So it was easy to pass out each and every subject. But when you come to final year you don't have an online examination. But still the exam structure is good and you can score maximum marks here. Note: This structure is only for CSE students. Other departments may have a different structure.

Admission

The admission process is laid out by Directorate of Technical Education, Maharashtra wherein you have to select colleges which you prefer to take admission in out of many colleges. There are a total of 3 CAP rounds for the allotment of colleges. I got SGI as my college in the second CAP round.

Faculty

3

There are not so qualified faculty in the college. Some faculties have lots of knowledge in their areas and some lack. The faculty needs to be improved drastically. It is not the fault of them, the fault is in the curriculum of the course but still have to increase the nature of teaching.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
