Course Curriculum Overview
I want to pursue a B.Pharma and Biochem is my backup, so when I didn't get pharma then I chose biochem. The faculty-to-student ratio is around 1:5 for my batch. All faculties are Ph.D. and some of them have 30+ years of teaching, while some joined last year and some also do their own research. The exams were after mid-semester and happened for a week. Some exams are intermediate whereas some are too tough. But the end-sem exams are at the intermediate level.
Internships Opportunities
The college provides SRI VIPRA, a summer internship program every year, and offers internships for students of 2nd and 3rd year from every department. They are unpaid but students get quite an experience of work culture in professional environments by the guidance of expert professors.
Placement Experience
Students became eligible after completing 3-4 semesters. I don't know much about companies because most companies are for commerce and humanities students, as they meet their requirement criteria. So, the highest and average package, can't be described but for guess around 10,00,000 and 2,50,000 as average. Around 2-3% of students get placement every year. After graduation, I plan for a master's in biotechnology.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are feasible even for a person of the low middle class can afford per year. The college provides some scholarships to students whose family income is low, by which they get 50% or even 100% fee back. It can be said according to fees education is fine. The jobs for the bio-chem department didn't happen that frequently as the majority of internships are for the arts and commerce stream.
Campus Life
Life on campus is pretty good. The annual fest is happening. The same goes for extracurricular activities and clubs. The classrooms are generally okay. The library is well prepared and there are plenty of books and journals available. There is sports equipment and the grounds and courts are there but often without proper gear. Equipment is there, but there's usually only one, not a second one.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are great, but there's a limitation of only four students per department per year- 2 boys and 2 girls, with a mix of general and reserved categories. The monthly fee is around 9000-10000, which is affordable, the food is excellent, with a diverse menu and meals served at proper timings. It also has a common room for both boys and girls hostel, a table tennis and badminton court, and a garden nearby.
Admission
The eligibility includes Physics, chemistry, biology, and spoken English. The form is available online at the Delhi University website. I got admitted through the merit list. The cutoff is too high as I get my name on the 3rd list with the cast certificate. the other way of admission is through the entrance test. Here reservation works for me as in the general list the cutoff decreases around 1% every time and it starts around 98%. Now the admission process is through CUET but it is a tedious way as the number of students in junior batches is around 60 which is too much according to lab size.
Interview Experience
No, it was during COVID time I took admission, so the interview did not take place. As for group discussion, it happens with teachers, that are enjoyable and get to learn about future opportunities and guidance for masters.
