Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

I chose the IT branch because I was more inclined towards software development and coding. For having knowledge of computer science, cse branch is best for it and the faculty members are also great in that department. In comparison to CSE, the IT faculty is quite lower but the teachers are very coordinated and help us in any problem. The teachers and their teaching method are very good but some teachers who came new are not that good right now but they will surely be. There is a total of 4 class assessments before the semester 2 of which are conducted as an exam and the other 2 are assignment-based class assessments.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

There are many companies that offer us to do internships such as TCS, Capgemini, cognizant, and many more. After COVID, they also provide work-from-home internships. They give us projects related to software development for IT students.

Placement Experience

3.5

Last year, above 90% of students were placed in the MCKV Institute of Engineering. The average package that the college gives is 3-6 lakhs per annum. This year due to the recession period, the placement is going quite lower but the college's placement cell makes sure that everyone has got it. Many companies like IBM, TCS, Capgemini, and Accenture come to this college. The highest package last year was 18lakhs and the average was 5 lakhs.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee structure for 4 years is 3,99,000. It is a very affordable college but yes every semester there is a fee hike of 1100. Every semester, it costs around 46,100 and then it increases to 1100 every semester. This was about the college fee. Before every semester exam, they also take an examination fee which is 1100. This is for every semester examination. Swami Vivekananda scholarship is available for West Bengal students.

Campus Life

3

Campus is okay like not that good but it provides every provision. Events are organized on every occasion and everyone can participate in it. In January, the annual fest is conducted which is Utopia for 2 days and the tech fest is for 2 days just before the annual fest. Classes and libraries are nice. Sports and co-curricular activities happen in the college for students to showcase their talent.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facility is good for living but the hostel provides veg food. And the quality of food is not that good but they try to improve. The hostel fee is 19,800 for a semester and food is excluded. The mess food costs 2000 per month. Every room has 2 shared beds and so on.

Admission

For this, you will have to take the entrance exam WBJEE or JEE Mains and the admission will totally depend on the cut-off of that year. If you have not taken any exam then at the end of the admission process, there is also a direct admission with a donation which is costly. I gave jee mains and through that, I came to this college. The cut-off in WBJEE rank should be likely around 10-15k for getting computer science. For IT, the rank is up to 35k but it depends from year to year. If you are a student of WB then you will surely have benefits. The admission process is quite good but they should improve the counselling process.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
