Life at IIITDM Kancheepuram

I was interested in mechanical engineering rather than CS or IT, so I chose this course. All the faculties have done their Ph.D.s in prestigious universities like IITs, NITs, and foreign universities. They mold us into a perfect engineer, product designers, or entrepreneur. We'll have a clear idea of what to do next after engineering. The semester is three to three and a half months. You'll have summer and winter holidays in which you can apply for an internship.

You can do internship in other IITs and NITs and also in some companies. You can also do internships in Germany, Japan, Singapore, Maldives, and Australia and also be an exchange student there. Internships may include a stipend.

From 4th year the students are eligible for campus placements. Companies that visited our college are: Virtusa, Zoho, Adobe, Trimble, Quantiphi, MathWorks, SKuad, Microchip, Congruent, AutomationEdge, Augmentor, Synati, L&T Infotech, Capgemini, Saint-Gobain, Soveyo, Ally, Navis, Amazon, CloudSEK, Samsung, Galvanize, AMD, PayPal, Michelin, For, RudderStack, QUINN, etc. Highest LPA: 54.3 LPA, from college placement, but people also applied to jobs externally and got higher packages.

The fee structure is standard and doesn't change from person to person. But if you're under SC/ST, you only have to pay for your hostel and academic fees are free. You can apply for a scholarship which the college will provide later, you can also take education loans.

Annual Cultural Fest: SAMGATHA happens at the end of March and the start of April. Also, there is small another cultural fest called MERAKI that happens in mid-September. Annual Tech Fest: VASHISHT happens in mid-February. Nice tournament for freshers during August or September. Inter-department Sports Fest happens during October end, and Inter-IIIT sports fest will happen during the mid march in any one of the IIITs. We have well-furnished library known as KNOWLEDGE PLAZA, which has many no. of books Classrooms are more spacious than other colleges and examinations are strict.

There are 3 hostels which have two wings each. Jasmin and Jasmin Annex, in which Jasmine wing is for girls and Jasmin Annex is for boys (only 1st years). Ashwatha's left and right wings both are for boys and Ashoka's left and right wings both are for boys. Ashoka is only for 2nd and 4th year students and also some PhD scholars be there. Ashwatha is for 3rd year, phds mtech, and technical staffs. Some of 1st year students are also given rooms in Ashwatha. Here, they follow, first come first serve rule, for hostels and roll nos. Mess - AKSHAYA serves 4 times a day. Breakfast (7.00 am to 9.00 am), Lunch(12.00 pm to 2.00 pm), Snacks(5.00 pm to 6.00 pm), Dinner(7.00 pm to 9.00 pm) On Special occasions, they give special menu. The Mess block has 4 floors. They serve non-veg on 2 days, Wednesday and Sunday.

You have to secure more than cut-off according to your caste category in the JEE Mains, to get into this college. Once you get selected, you have to pay the first semester fees and hostel fees. It is a residential college, so no day scholars are allowed. If you have any medical issue and any reasonable personal problem you can avail to stay on as a day scholar.
