My 5+ years of exprencience in SLIET in few words

From childhood I was fascinated by machines so, I decided to do a Btech in Mechanical Engineering Course. The faculty-student ratio in our college is around 1:10 which I think is pretty good. Most of the Faculty members in my college have done Ph.D. and at a minimum, all of them have done master's in their respective branch. Also, most of them have done their masters and Ph.D. from IIT, or NIT of some foreign university. Teaching methods vary from faculty to faculty some use conventional methods some are very creative and some are very interactive during the class. Term exams are conducted very timely as per the academic calender. Exams have a moderate level of difficulty.

At the end of the 4th sem and 6th sem of btech, students have to do one or two months of training in some industry of research institute during summer vacation and in the 8th sem of our b tech, we have two opportunities either to do 6-month Internship or to study two subjects in the college. The department of training and Placement of our college also helps the students to find an Internship.

The placement of my college is moderate and the average package is around 4-5 LPA. Branches like Computer science and Mechanical Engineering have around 50-70% of placement and the remaining departments and branches have around 30-50% of placement. Although the highest package is around 20 LPA it is given only to one or two students. The placement session starts in the 7th semester of Btech.

As my college in a Centrally funded institute, the fee of my college is very low compared to any average college in the country. once you are admitted to the college there is no fee hike or any extra charge taken by the college, every year you have to pay the same amount of fees. Also, there are many scholarships provided by the college to aid poor students.

My college is spread over a very large area of 450 acres and the campus life here is just amazing. With great infrastructure and facilities, the campus is self sufficient in itself. The only problem is its location, that it is around 15 km away from the main city. There are a lot of things to do in extracurricular activities in this college there are so many clubs, group both technical and nontechnical which helps you to grow personally and technically. One tech-fest and one cultural fest is also organized every year in which participants from another college also participate and there are huge cash prizes provided to the winners in these fest.

There is multiple entry and exit system in my college, it provides courses from Diploma to Phd. I took Admission in Btech(lateral Entry) course through SET 3 exam (a national level exam conducted by the college). The eligibility for this course is that you must have done Diploma in enginnering in the same branch for which you are applying for. The whole application to admission process is completely through online mode. Application Fees are around Rs 2000. The application for sliet comes generally in the month of May and June every year. Reservations policy in the admission process is as per the government norms in our college.
