Course Curriculum Overview
I chose this course because in NIT Rourkela Mechanical engineering is the best department. The faculty-to-student ratio is good we have two sections in Mechanical Engineering each having a set of faculty with around 80 students per section. The teachers are well qualified but the teaching methods can be improved. The interactive students can get the best out of the faculties. One semester has mid-sem and end-sem with some class tests. One can easily pass by just regularly following the lecture.
Internships Opportunities
There were internships from TATA Motors tata steel, BPCL, a drone startup company, and also from it companies. There were also opportunities to do research internships in DRDO and many IITs. Overall the internship experience was good for me in tatasteel and quite interactive.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, students become eligible for campus placement. The company includes Tata, John Deer, various drone startups, Royal Enfield, and many well-known companies. The highest package is around 20 lpa and the average was around 10 lpa. The placement percentage is around 98%. My plan is to appear for GATE entrance after my degree and get placed in a PSU.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees are quite reasonable if you have income below 100000, you have to pay only around 60000 per year for which you can opt for a study loan according to your family condition. I got a scholarship from the state government which is around 40000, there are also scholarships for OBC SC ST. You can also get scholarships from companies like Tata, SBI, etc.
Campus Life
The campus is very large and filled with greenery. You can easily find an evening spot. There are Techfest, Celebrity Night, Garden fest, and NITRUSAV (cultural fest) for cheering up and enjoying. There are many restaurants and cafes, ice cream parlors, gupchup spots, and night canteen on the campus. All classrooms have AC and fans with good furniture and are fitted with projector and microphones. There is a large cricket stadium, 2 basketball courts football court, and hostels have their own garden and badminton court. There are many tech and social clubs you Bea a part of which can greatly enhance your leadership and teamwork capabilities.
Hostel Facilities
Each room is boarded by two students. Each room has two beds two study tables, and a chair and racks for books and other stuff. The meal provided in mess is average and the nonveg items are really good. The hostel is alloted by the institute but you can change the hostel next year by giving an application.
Admission
Everyone pursuing 12th in Math, physics, and chemistry, can apply for the JEE entrance exam. After taking the exam you have to apply via jossa counseling for enrollment in NIT. People scoring above the 97 percentile have a good chance to get into the Mechanical Engineering Department. The students of the general category with a family income less than 100000 per year can have tution fees that are around 65000 per semester for 0 amount. So, they have to only pay other fees which is around 34000. The addmission process is done on campus so the students with their guardians have to come to college. if the college could provide free accommodation for them it would be better.
