- The campus size, the freedom. Fests happen all around the year.

- The placement season might be disheartening and toxic
- Semester goes too fast with fests around, so it becomes hectic
- Hygiene in hostels could be improved. The mess has stray animals luring around which makes it unhygienic
Course Curriculum Overview
Chemical Engineering sounds fun to me, and it deals with fuels, an evergreen sector. There might be 20 faculty members in our department. and the student-to-faculty ratio seems fine. The faculty qualifications are good, but teaching for some faculties could improve to a great extent. There are two exams in 4months sem and mid sems are easy to pass but the end sems could be tough
Internships Opportunities
There can be various companies coming to our campus with various roles and the stipend can vary from 10k to 20k to even 1lpa. For tech we even have Barclays, oracle, and Microsoft and for core we have TATA, ExxonMobil, etc coming up. We usually have a technical round with aptitude and core/coding tests, then the GD and the interview finally. The main criteria for getting an internship is to clear the Online Tests for any company. It is much easier to get an ineternship if you are in curcuitl branches, but You can also secure an internshio in other branches as well but hopes are not that high. Your projects should allign with the interests of the comapny. For example if ExxonMobil, your projects can be something based on sustainability or on the industrial side; especially using a few Softwares like ASPEN, MATLAB etc.
Placement Experience
During 7th semester students students are eligible for campus placements. For chemical we have Saint Gobain, TATA Steel, Exxon Mobil, ITCX etc visiting the campus. For Tech we have Microsft visiting us. The highest package could go up to 90lpa and the average stands at 10lpa. The percentage varies every year but overall 70-80 per cent of students get placed easily. I am also thinking of getting into a PSU after getting a degree.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fees could be decreased considering the quality of mess food they provide and that we have to study some courses through outside sources. I haven't got any scholarship or financial assistance from campus yet.
Campus Life
The annual tech fest held in our college is Innnovision. It is conducted in November. Yes, books are mostly available in the library and it is easy to issue them as well. The classrooms have proper benches, a projector and board. Sports could be bettered in our college and even the amenities. There are a lot of them. On is AIChe for Chemical Engineers.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms are not good. The meal is fine but could be improved. I live in a hostel only and have not rented any PG The hostels are allotted to us during our first year and we can choose among hostels(which are usually teo for girls) during our upcoming years. The rooms are small and dirty, calling the maid doesn't help cuz they hesitate to clean our rooms. There is serious hygiene issues in our rooms. Bathrooms are fine but stray animals roam around freely inside hostels which makes the place nasty.
Admission
I got admitted to NIT Rourkela through JEE Mains in 2021. I found the form on the JOSAA site. I didn't avail of any reservation benefits. No, the admission process was smooth except that the paper work could have been less.
