Course Curriculum Overview
As the civil engineering fascinates me so much that's why I chose this course. There is a faculty student ratio of 1:40. All the facilities have a PhD degree and the teaching method of each of them is so much articulating. There will be 2 exams in a semster, in the interval of 2months. Along with that 2-4 quizzes will be there based on the professors. It's simple,if you can give an hour everyday,then definitely you can pass the semester exams with a decent SGPA.
Internships Opportunities
The companies offer various roles in internships like software engineer, business analyst, and also in core sector. A handsome amount of around 50k is provided as a stipend. I didn't take up any project till now but in 7th sem all the students have to take up a project under the professors.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements after 6th semester.There are various companies which visit NIT Rourkela like Amazon, Deloitte,BPCL etc. And the number of offers made was around 1000. The highest package offered was 52 lakhs and the average package offered was 14 lakhs per annum. There was a 100% placements in the electrical branch and around 90% overall placement. I'm aiming for PSUs in the college and also preparing for GATE and ESE.
Fees and Financial Aid
There will be fees hike,if only the government approves it but I don't think there will be any hike in the fees in coming years. There are various scholarships schemes by the government which are category based. Along with that, various other schemes are there through which one can get financial assistance. Placement in NIT Rourkela is one of the best. Here average CTC is 14 lakhs per annum.
Campus Life
There are 4 societies in total in NIT Rourkela, Technical, Games and sports, Literary n cultural, Films and music. All these societies have one grand fest. Innovision is one of the largest tech fest in eastern India which take place in the month of November.Othere fests are Ntrutsav, cosmopolitan etc. There is around 80000 books in the library and a number of journals. Classrooms are equipped with projectors,smart boards,AC etc. There is a diverse club culture in NIT Rourkela with around 50 clubs relating to various activities. Various student gros are Aasray,Leo etc. Almost all the clubs have their own websites run by the students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel rooms have 2 beds, 2 cupboards, 2 tables and 2 chairs as there will be double accomodation. The mess menu gets revised periodically and the quality of food in the mess is comparatively good. Hostels are quite affordable and one can change hostels at the starting of the semesters. There is no need to rent any room or PG outside the campus.
Admission
One can take admission in NIT Rourkela only through JEE Mains, qualifying with a percentile above 96. After the declaration of results,There will be josaa counselling and after registering in the counseling process,one can take admission in it. Reservation will be there based on domicile as well as category. There will be home state quota and other state quota and the reservation benefits as per the direction of the government. There should be flexibility with the choices of branch as per NEP 2020.
