Ground truths of NIT Rourkela

I chose this course because that's what I got according to my mains rank. Faculty : student ratio is around 1:30 . Most of the faculties are pHD from IITs and are highly qualified. After every sem. We are asked to give feedback to the professors. Exams here vary from medium to tough level but a decent study is enough to pass in exams.

Intenships offered here are quite less and very competitive. Around 200 students get internship offers and in recession times it just goes down even more. Getting internship is harder than getting placements. For circuital and Cs fair amount of comapnies come but for other branches its almost negligible. Some companies that come for CS and circuital are Texas Instruments , oracle , qualcomm , John deere , American express etc, but most of them prefer girl candidates as compared to boys. Yes definitely having good number of projects in cv helps a lot in getting internships whether on campus or off campus.

Placements are quite good in our college. Almost everybody can get placed if they have decent preparartions. For branches like circuital , Cs and mining its 100% most of the time. There were 1000 offers for btech courses last year in 2023. Higest package was 91 lpa from Uipath from Elcetronics and Instrumentation Engineering and lowest was 4 lpa from utkarsh small finance bank. The other companies they come are Microsoft, Oracle , texas instruments , qualcomm , American express , John deere and many more. My plan is get a job in core industry in company such as texas instruments or qualcomm or any better company.

If your parents combined income is greater than 6 lpa then fees is 8 lakhs for four years and if you belong to SC/ST then it comes down to around 4 lakhs(0 tuition fees). Even if your parents have lower income than 6 lpa, your fees would be very less. Yes there are scholarships provided but depends on branch and year of study.

Tech fest - Innovision Cultural fest - Cosmopolitan and Nitrutsav Sports fest - Vriddhi Tech fest is conducted on month of November, cultural fest on months of January. You can very easily find books and journal of your choice in library. Classrooms are decent. Some classrooms have centralized AC facilities depends on department but underground classes dont have any AC facilities and are hot. For extra curricular activities there are around 70 clubs and facilities for lots of sports are also there. There are three different fields for them. There Cyborg if you want to robotics , APS for coding , Finance club if you want to learn finance and many more.

Rooms in hostel are either two seater or one seater but due to lack of space some one seater rooms are used as two seater for hostels like SD and VS. But hostels like DBA and GDB has better condition when it comes to accomodation. In girls hostel it might be four seater or two seater. In KMS its generally four seater and CVR (bigger than KMS) has two seeaters generally. In terms of food SD is best and in girls hostel both Kms and CVR is good. Every year the contractor of mess is swapped among the hostels. Now the fees for mess per year is 30k around depending on whether you stay on vacations or not. And for hostel the fees is 10k per year.

Admission was through JEE MAINS examination, and application form can be found in the website of NIT Rourkela's official website. For obc and state quota opening rank was 6000 and 9000 was closing rank. Admission process can be improved if they would send mails to every candidates about the admission process.
