The truth of IIEST Shibpur

I chose this course because at my rank this was the best option as this is a very prestigious course of this very old and prestigious college. The faculties over here are very well knowledgeable, they teach us very passionately. The faculty:student ratio in my course is about 1:40. Almost all of the faculties here have done PhD in their respective fields and they also teach us in such a way that we get a deep knowledge about our course. After beginning of the course, our midterm exam started in 1.5 months and endterm started after 2 months of midterm. The exams were of 30 marks and 50 marks per subject respectively , it was quite easier to pass midterm than endterm exam as the syllabus was then less.

The companies that offer different roles under internship are Amazon, Texas Instruments, Microsoft, Jindal, etc. They provide a very decent stipend to the students according to their roles based on their skills. Many students get PPO from the same company for which they do the internship which is good.

The students become eligible for campus placements from 5th semester. There are many companies that visited for campus placements like Texas Instruments, Tata Steel, Jindal, etc. and they made 78 offers for the students of department of Electrical Engineering. The highest package for Electrical Engineering is 28.41 lakh by Texas Instruments and the average package is around 9 lpa. Around 80% of the students get placed. I want to get placed with a good package after getting the degree.

The institute fees in this college is Rs. 71000 which includes tuition fees of Rs. 62500 and other fees like caution money, etc. And I also paid Rs. 29500 for hostel and mess. Although I have not gotten any scholarship yet , but I will get full tuiton fee waiver in few months as I belong to GEN-EWS category and my family income is less than 1 lakh rupees. The campus jobs here is quite decent as almost 75-80% of students get placed with a good package. The stipend or package is different for different departments and for different companies offering the jobs.

The name of the annual cultural fest is REBECA which stands for REunion and Bengal Engineering College Annuals, it is conducted in the month of May every year. Instruo is Kolkata's largest technical fest organised by the student community of IIEST Shibpur. There are many clubs for students in this college run by students like Reflexobeta club for dance, Euphony for singing and playing various instruments, DebSoc and LitSoc for debating and literature, etc. There are almost all books and journals of our need is avaiable in library. Every classroom has AC. There are 2 grounds in the college for outdoor games, basketball & volleyball court and there is also facility for indoor games.

In our hostel, we get a big room that accomodates 4 people. Every room has 4 beds, 4 study tables and 4 cupboards. The meal quality here is decent and we get breakfast, lunch and dinner. The hostels are very affordable and registration process is smooth as it is done on day of the physical reporting.

I appeared for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) 2023 in two shifts, first one in January where I scored 97.35 percentile and other one in April where I got 97.49 percentile. Overall my rank was 29046 and at this rank, I got Electrical Engineering in this college (IIEST SHIBPUR) in round 6 of Josaa councelling. One can get the application for Joint Entrance Examination on jeemain.nta.nic.in website. The fees for JEE Main 2024 application is Rs.1000 for GEN male candidate, Rs.900 for GEN-EWS/OBC male candidate, Rs.800 for GEN,GEN-EWS,OBC female candidate and Rs.500 for SC/ST & transgender candidates. The date to fill this form was from Nov 1, 2023 to Dec 4, 2023. My admission process in this college was smooth.
