Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum is well articulated and consists of industry demanding subjects. The branch of Chemical Engineering deals with the chemical processes for manufacturing of different products, designing of equipments and their fundamental understanding. All the professors are highly qualified and are very approachable. One may not like the teaching method of all the professors but this topic remains subjective to various opinions. The term exams are conducted very timely. It is not really very tough to just pass a subject but some students do fail because of various reasons.

Internships Opportunities

3

The students from the pre-final year are bound to undergo an internship or industrial exposure in the summer before the final year begins. A lot of companies from various domains visit the campus for different roles that include software developer, management trainee, project trainee and others. The stipend ranges from 20KPM to 1.5LPM. Still in a batch of around 1200 students, only about 400 students manage to grab an internship opportunity on campus.

Placement Experience

4

Students from the 7th semester become eligible for placements. The college has been doing well in terms of placements. The overall average package for this year's BTech students was 13.89 LPA while the highest package offered was 83.60 LPA. More than 1300 companies visited the campus and the top recruiters include Microsoft, Deloitte, JSW Steel, etc. I am planning to go for further studies after getting the degree but not ruling out the possibility of backing an offer with decent package.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fees structure is apt and well articulated. Students of lower income groups enjoy fee waiver on tution fees subject to verification of family income certificate. Students are also eligible for various scholarships. The college is also doing well in terms of placements. The average package of B.Tech students this year was more than 11 LPA.

Campus Life

4.5

The campus life here is really very cool and enjoyable. The campus is so big that one may not even explore the whole of it. Four major fests are held in the college annually. The annual techno-management fest "INNOVISION" is held in November. The annual cultural fest "COSMOPOLITAN" is held in January. Besides the annual literary and cultural fest "NITRUTSAV" is held in March while the annual sports fest "VRIDDHI" is held in either October or November. The library is very big and has ample amount of course relevant books. Classrooms are equipped with blackboard, projectors and screens. Besides, Inter-NIT sports events are also held in the college.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

The hostel I reside in is a huge one as it houses more than 1800 students. Two students share a room which is equipped with a tube light, a fan, two beds, two chairs, two tables and one LAN port. The toilet is well maintained and the water supply is proper but students in other hostels do experience a shortage in water supply. Power outage is a problem that students have to face sometimes. The mess is a huge one, still sometimes it doesn't feel big enough for a hostel with 1800 boarders. The mess food is okayish and there is scope for improvement.

Admission

The admission process was completely online during my time of admission. The entrance exam for this institute was JEE Mains. The cutoff for qualifying for the exam was 87.992241 percentile for a general-category student in 2021. Upon qualifying for the exam, there was a counselling process by JoSAA. After being allotted a seat in the JoSAA counselling process, a 'seat acceptance ' fee and then a 'registration fee' was to be paid. Then various documents like class 10 marksheets, class 12 marksheets, conduct certificates, migration certificates, income certificates, caste certificates and others were to be uploaded on the institute's official website.

Placement Experience:

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
