Course Curriculum Overview

4

At NIT Rourkela, the Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) department offers a thorough and up-to-date curriculum that covers both the academic and practical parts of the discipline. The instructors' many areas of expertise enrich the learning process, and they are all highly qualified with advanced degrees. Individualised attention is encouraged by the faculty-to-student ratio. The tough curriculum, the opportunity for research possibilities, and the prestigious reputation of NIT Rourkela are the reasons I picked this degree. An interactive learning environment is fostered by the range of approaches used in the teaching methods. Term examinations are set on time, and even though they are difficult, they offer a fair evaluation of the subject matter. All things considered, the ECE department at NIT Rourkela offers a strong educational experience with committed staff and a curriculum that follows current business trends.

Internships Opportunities

3.5

My college offers a wide range of internship possibilities, including partnerships with reputable businesses. Students might investigate careers in marketing, research, and software development, among other fields. Many Ltd. marketing internships involve developing and implementing promotional strategies that raise brand awareness. Experiments and data analysis are among the duties associated with research responsibilities with lots of innovations, which produce insightful information for the business. These paid internships provide students stipends in addition to instruction, giving them invaluable industry exposure and real-world experience in the disciplines they choose to pursue.

Placement Experience

4

At my college, campus placements usually begin in the penultimate semesters, so final-year students are eligible. The best package stands out and demonstrates the quality of the chances on offer, while the average package emphasises how competitive the placements are overall. A notable proportion of students obtain placements, demonstrating the school's dedication to improving employability. The college offers helpful career counselling, promoting alternative pathways like further education, entrepreneurship, or internships, for individuals who choose not to participate in campus placements. After graduation, I want to use the abilities I've gained in the industry to make a significant contribution to the field I've chosen.

Fees and Financial Aid

A key component of higher education is the cost structure, and it's important to know what scholarships, financial aid, and jobs are available on campus. At NIT Rourkela, tuition can differ, thus it's vital to take study expenses into account. Ask the institute about its rules on fee increases as well in order to prepare for future expenses. NITs frequently offer a range of financial assistance and scholarships depending on merit, socioeconomic status, or other requirements. Investigate any potential government initiatives or awards, such as the Institute Merit Scholarship. Jobs on campus like teaching assistant or research assistantships can also be a source of funding. I applied for the Scholarship myself, and it helped me pay for a sizable amount of my tuition. I also got hired as a research assistant.

Campus Life

4.5

Campus life at NIT Rourkela is vibrant and interesting, with a variety of extracurricular, cultural, and academic offerings. A dynamic atmosphere is fostered by the yearly cultural fest, "Cultura," and the tech fair, "Innovision," which take place in the latter months of the academic year. Access to a wide range of books and journals is made possible via the library, which helps with academic pursuits. Modern conveniences are provided in well-equipped classrooms to guarantee the best possible learning environment. There are numerous sports facilities, cultural clubs, and technical societies on campus that serve a variety of interests. Student-run websites and social clubs facilitate communication and teamwork among students. At NIT Rourkela, the diverse range of options promotes a well-rounded college experience.

Hostel Facilities

4

I stayed in a hostel during my time in college for lodging. A bed, a chair, and a study table were provided, in addition to common areas like restrooms. The registration procedure for the hostel was simple and only required the submission of the required paperwork. Taking into account the ease of being on campus, affordability seemed reasonable. The cuisine at the hostel offered a variety of selections, while the quality of the meals varied. I did, however, periodically check out local restaurants for some variation. Alternatively, I rented a room in an area near the college off-campus. The furnished rental unit included conveniences including a kitchen and laundry facilities. Even though it cost a little more than the hostel, it was still a good option for a more autonomous living experience because of its location and other amenities.

Admission

An essential entrance exam in India for admission to undergraduate engineering programmes is the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains. Candidates usually need to have finished their 10+2 coursework in mathematics, chemistry, and physics to meet the eligibility requirements. Online registration, form submission, and fee payment through a variety of online methods are all part of the application process. Application costs differ according to gender and category. The application window and exam dates are publicised ahead of time, and candidates are required to submit their applications within that window. The reservation system guarantees representation for several groups, such as economically disadvantaged portions, OBC, SC, and ST. Together with the results, the cut-off scores—which are based on variables including exam difficulty and candidate performance—are made public. Despite the typically well-structured JEE Mains procedure, ongoing efforts are undertaken to

I would rate the placements at my college as 3 out of 5. Students usually become eligible for campus placements from the sixth or seventh semester, and a few well-known companies do visit the campus every year. The placement cell helps with basic training like resume building and interviews, and many students, especially from IT branches, manage to secure jobs. At the same time, the average salary packages are not very high and top roles are limited, so a lot of students also focus on skill development, off-campus opportunities or higher studies after completing their degree

Students are eligible for placement from their 3rd year onwards. It has been only 2-3 months but I have seen several companies arriving at the college, prominent ones being Flipkar,Deloitte, Xerox, TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Microsoft, Dell and several others including startups. There is no accurate data on how many offers have been made this year, but there are rumours that more than 95% of the eligible students have got placements. After getting a degree my plans are if I dont land into a satisfying job then I will start my preparation of the military or start a new business.
