A Fresher's Experience

I was getting two choices on basis of my rank IIT BHU Civil or IIT Roorkee Geophysical Technology I chose IIT BHU Civil as it was better branch and despite IIT BHU not in Top7 IITs it is having good reputation and branch also matters. Good faculty members are present you will find this in all IITs. Every faculty is highly qualified PhD for faculty is necessary and their research paper must be published. Exams happen two times in one semester .First mid sem happen when you are in midway of semester and then the End Term Examination when semester ends.CGPA is calculated on basis of two and internal Marks are also there of lab,assignments etc.

For on campus internship you become eligible in third year.Diiferent tests are conducted by different companies for internship.Some projects are also required.This year 353 paid internship were there offered by 77 companies and profiles.Main companies were Google,Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Mastercard

Final year students sit for placements. Many companies visited this placement season like Wells Fargo,Flipkart,Zomato,VISA,Goldman Sachs,Microsoft,Uber,Google,Mastercard,TATA Steel,Reliance,PhonePe,Wal-Mart. Highest Package offered was 1,68,00,000 and average was 21,00,000. Total placement offers made were 924 and total 277 companies visited. Total internship offers made were 353 offered by 77 companies.

Fees is 100000 for each semester since 2019 if your family income is more than 5,00,000 and if family income is between 1,00,000 and 5,00,000 then you will have to pay 33,000 and if family income is less than 1,00,000 then whole fee remission is there.Various scholarships are there based on your caste category and some private organization scholarships are there.In 3rd year you will have to apply for internship for which stipend will be given to you.You can also take off campus internship and in 4th Year Placements will be there and you will get a package if you are selected in an interview based on your portfolio.

Our annual fast is Kashiyatra conducted in month of January, tech fest is Technex conducted in month of March and India's largest sports fest Spardha is there conducted in month of October. Every type of book is available which is in course and you can issue it for whole semester and a reading hall is available fully AC where you can study peacefully. Classrooms are in form of theaters and mic and speakers are available. 19 different types of sports are available and different types of clubs are available of each field,cultural clubs,social awareness clubs,tech clubs,business clubs and communities are there like Student Alumni Interaction Cell,Public Relation Cell,Modern United Nations.Student Parliament is available in which students are members and members are elected by students. Every club,community,Parliament are run by students for students.

For first and second year triple sharing rooms are there and for third and fourth year double sharing rooms are there.For each year there is different hostel.Three beds and tables,chair and almirah,fan are provided. Meal quality is good and menu is set by Maharaj but students can change it through mess secretary.One day before department Registration there is hostel Registration.Room allotment list was shared before start of college.

You can get admission in IIT BHU through the prestigious JEE Advanced examination.Cutoff is different for different branches.For Civil it is 7600-10232.JEE Advanced is conducted by IITs. Two papers are there in two shifts. After Qualifying the JEE Advanced there is JoSAA counselling in which you have to fill choices in decreasing preference order.Choices can be filled by seeing previous year cutoffs of different IITs and NITs.
