A revised of NIT Rourkela by a 1st year student.

NIT Rourkela got very experienced faculty members. And I am pursuing Mechanical Engineering in this college. Mechanical Engineering is a very interesting course where we majorly work in thermodynamics, automobiles, etc. A brief faculty:student ratio is about 1:12. As they are very experienced they teach well. For an academic year there we are going to write two term exams say mid semester and end semester. Passing them is always a tough job.

As I said, I am a first year student I need to study more about internships in NIT Rourkela. As of now now I only know that in 3rd year we can participate in internships. I think companies like Google, Microsoft, TATA Industry, etc. will be offering internships. And the college is pretty much flexible on it.

As I'm a first year student I really don't know much about college placements. For B.tech students they can participate in internships during their third year. As for the placements it is done during their fourth year. Big tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Amazon visit the college every year. In the academic year 2023-24 the highest package was estimated around 83LPA and the average is like around 12 to 13 LPA. As for the percentage of students l this around 8 to 9 students were placements out of 10. OK my plans...well... It still a complicated question for me.

The fee is taken from the students in form of tuition fee, other fees, student activity fee, medical fee, hostel seat rent, caution fee, institute emergency fund, hall establishment fee, mess advance. Per year the cost to study is 125000 Rupees. There are many scholarships available. And majorly students go for the NSP (National Scholarship Programe).

INNOVATION is the annual fest conducted in NIT Rourkela which majorly involve technology and dance. And there are Garden fests too which is conducted in every individual hostels. There is a big library too. VRIDDHI is the annual sports fest. Clubs like ASME, AXIOM, CYBORG, MONDAY MORNING, etc.. are famous.

The rooms are not not that big they are too small and a single room is alloted for two students. There is a fan, two beds, switch board, shelfs, window. And a door. The meals are pretty decent not that good or not that bad. As per the menu it is modified every month as per the season. During registration process ghe hostel is alloted there itself. And the rooms are alloted in the hostel.

The admission process went smoothly. After passing of 12th we have to apply for JEE Mains entrance exam. After qualifying the exam we then participated in college councilling which was conducted by the NTA this year.
