Placements is cherry on the top for this college.

Dislikes

It would have been much better if it would been a residential college.
Students unions are way more politicized than it should be.
Administration is not satisfactory and laidback.

Course Curriculum Overview

To be honest, you dont get to choose your branch but its your rank. So my rank could get me this branch atmost. But once you get in you wont feel at all bad. Instead you would slowly start liking. Professors are really good and helpful.

Internships Opportunities

Internship exams are conducted after fourth semester and they are completed after sixth semester. Multiple top companies come for internships from all domains: Core, IT, Consultancy, Banking,etc. Many students get PPO after internships based on their performance.

Placement Experience

Exams for internships occur after 2nd year and students do the internships after 3rd year. Placement season starts from 4th year. Most of the batch gets placed. Circuital department placements are just below top 7-8 IITs and IIITH. Core departments placements at par with top 3-4 NITs.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees is the biggest highlight. The entire 4 year course costs just about just ten thousand bucks. This is about 1/100th of the fees of the cheapest central government college conglomerate: NITs. There are multiple scholarships oppurtunities based on merit cum need. Campus placements of JU is one of the best in the country.

Campus Life

Life at campus is mesmerizing. There are lot of clubs meeting demands for all students. Annual fest is SANSKRITI and tech fest is SRIJAN. Infrastructure is good enough considering the fees. Sufficient amenities for all kinds of sports.

Admission

One has to give WBJEE exam for getting admitted in this college which usually happens in April. Average cutoff for Engineering courses ranges from 4000-5000. The college has a 90 percent reservation criteria for state domicile students as its a state university.

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Like my main was getting to IIT which I couldn't as U couldn't clear JEE advanced.So my next option was to choose between NITS and JU.So clearly choose JU because it completes our BE in 10k whereas the fees of NITs are really high.So as I gave JEE in 2024 my jee main rank was something around 64K (95.5 percentile) and my wbjee rank was 2341 and got alloted food Technology and biochemical engineering in jadavpur university.The process to get into our college is to give wbjee and if u are a general your rank should be within 2500 to get into this premium college....Read More
