Remarks

The only thing which you should know before taking admission here is that you need to maintain a 75% attendance, failing which you would be debarred to give that exam. It helps as you spend more time in the classes and hence get knowledge rather than wasting time in bunking classes. The university follows a strict "no-ragging" policy and the seniors here are more as a friend rather than seniors The management can be slow at times. You have to adjust with it.

Entrance Preview

The entrance exam for Amity is Amity JEE. I chose the course because I always wanted to be a software engineer. Admission process-First you have to give the amity JEE and then clear an interview round. If you have 80%+ in your 12's, you can get direct admissions.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course teaches all the relevant subject related to the course. In addition to it, the teach subjects like Behavioural Science which grooms our personality. Plus aptitude and soft skill is also taught which will help in the future during campus placements

Internships Opportunities

Yes, our college does provide internships during the summer break of the third year. The overall experience is quite good and stipend depends upon the company and the performance of the student doing the internship. As Amity has links with many companies, they provide internship in re.puted companies

Placement Experience

4

Placement is the first criteria which a student looks into before taking admission in an engineering college. Although no place placements have taken place till date as our department is only two years old, but the placement looks secure. A lot of IT companies like Cognizant,TCS visits our university on a regular basis and give us valuable information in seminars. This also shows the tie-up which our university has with these IT companies and the brand value which the university has. Hence placement looks secured.

College Events

5

My college celebrates a number of events. There is the annual inter-department sports programme known as Sangathan and the best players are sent to Noida for further competitions. The college celebrates almost all festivals and a number of cultural events are organised.Events like Oppo New Face, Colours Youth are also conducted in the campus.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure is on the higher side. There is the scholarship programme which offers scholarship ranging from 25%-100% to top students. Otherwise, it's quite expensive. Engineering courses cost around 7.54 lakhs. The fees are also taken semester wise. It's an expensive college but the facilities provided by the college makes up for it.

Fees and Financial Aid

Yes,the college does provide scholarships. During the admission process, the scholarship is provided on the basis of class 12 results and after 1st year it is provided on the basis of the performance of the students in the 1st year. Normally top 10 students get the scholarship.

Campus Life

4.5

Amity has probably the best campus infrastructure in Kolkata. Just google the images and you will be left mesmerized. In contrast to the shabby old buildings of a tropical engineering college , Amity has a wonderful campus which is fully air-conditioned and looks more like a IT company. The college has free wifi and a large library where you can issue books with ease. The canteen offers standard food at a standard price and is hygienic. The university encourages sport activities too and an annual sports meet known as *Sangathan* takes place at the university.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel is fully air-conditioned with WiFi.It provides a homely feeling as, unlike other colleges, Amity has a very good infrastructure. Normally a room is shared by two students. The facilities do match the standards. There is no.mess food as food charges are not included in the hostel fees. The canteen is pure veg which gives quality food at a reasonable price. The student who wants to eat non-veg can order it from outside.

Alumni/Alumna

The senior student here is more as friends rather than seniors. Since Amity is an anti-ragging college,no ragging takes place The seniors here are very helpful. The provide us with help as well as opportunities to develop ourselves.

Exam Structure

Exam for all courses are taken twice a year i.e in semesters. In addition to it, there are mid-term tests. The general structure is 70% of end term exams + 30% of mid-term exams. There are 5 marks for attendance. The university is very strict regarding cheating and UFM(unfair means) is issued against students found guilty of cheating.

Admission

I first filled the form and waited for the exam date. After filling the form I got a username and password for amity microsite. The date for the exam is uploaded there and all the other informations are given there. Then I gave the Amity JEE and the interview process. And after clearing it,I got admission in the college.

Faculty

4

The faculty here are quite friendly and you will never miss school here. Unlike other colleges, the faculty here are concerned about every individual and encourages them to do better. They clear doubts even If you ask them for the nth time. The teacher uses smart board techniques and gives a detailed presentation about the topics. The curriculum is very useful as it focuses on the topics which are useful to the students

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
