Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Computer Science and Engg CORE course at VIT exceeded my expections, Opting for CSE in 2021 was driven by its promising future scope. The Faculty-student ratio was reasonable, with an average of 1 faculty member for every 70 students, ensuring personalized attention. Faculty members were highly qualified, and their teaching methods received positive review. Timely term exams were conducted, and the well-structured curriculum, combined with excellent lectures, made them manageable. Passing exams was generally straightforward due to the comprehensive teaching approach. VIT's CSE branch not only aligned with the evolving demands of the field but also provided a supportive learning environment with competent faculty.

Internships Opportunities

4

Internship opportunities at my college VIT, have been impressive. Notable companies like PayPal, Oracle, IBM, and Warner Bros. have offered software internships with competitive stipends ranging from 40,000 to 100,000 per month. The projects undertaken primarily focused on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, showcasing the college's commitment to cutting-edge technologies with promising future prospects. These internships not only provided valuable industry exposure but also allowed students to contribute meaningfully to projects, enhancing both skills and employability.

Placement Experience

5

At VIT University, the journey towards placements kicks off from the 5th sem, opening doors to exciting opportunities for internships and job placements. The campus witnesses the presence of top-notch companies like Google, Amazon, Microsoft, IBM, PayPal, Walmart, among others, offering numerous job opportunities. The 2023 placements at VIT Vellore set an impressive benchmark with the highest package reaching INR 1.02 cr per annum and an average of INR 8 LPA. Around 85% of students, excluding those pursuing higher studies, found their career paths through placements. Personally, I'm eyeing entrepreneurship post-degree, wanting to use what I've learned to start something meaningful. VIT's stellar placement record reflects not just numbers but a commitment to shaping promising futures for its graduates.

Fees and Financial Aid

Choosing VIT was a great decision for me, especially considering the reasonable fee structure that ranged from 2L/yr to 5L/yr * based on VITEEE ranks and selected branches. VIT ensures that the cost aligns with the quality of education offered. What's impressive is the array of scholarships and financial assistance available. While I didn't apply for scholarships, the campus job scene is vibrant with a 100% guarantee, as my brother experienced at the Vellore campus, securing a job with a generous 6LPA stipend. This not only eases the financial burden but also provides valuable practical experience. The transparency in fee hike policies and the wealth of opportunities for financial support and campus jobs make VIT a well-rounded choice for a holistic education journey.

Campus Life

4

Life at VIT's campus is vibrant and engaging. Social life is enriched by annual events like the tech fest "Technovit" and the annual fest "Vibrance," conducted with enthusiasm each year. The library is a treasure trove, offering an extensive collection of books and journals. Classrooms are well-equipped with modern amenities, facilitating an effective learning environment. The campus boasts wide grounds, encouraging sports and extracurricular activities that constantly keep the energy high. With 30-50 student-run clubs and chapters, there's something for everyone, fostering a sense of community and shared interests. Social groups and websites add to the dynamic campus culture, making life at VIT a memorable and holistic experience.

Hostel Facilities

4

The hostel facilities at VIT University are commendable. They offer 2/3/4/6/8-bed configurations, and a recent addition includes a men's hostel block entirely with AC rooms, providing separate bunk beds with cupboards, study tables, and chairs. The amenities extend to hot/cold water for drinking and bathing, along with well-maintained common bathrooms. The meal quality and variety, catering to both vegetarian and non-vegetarian preferences, are satisfactory, with choices from 2-3 caterers. The registration process for hostels through the VTOP website is straightforward, offering flexibility. In terms of affordability, the hostel experience at VIT is worth it when compared to external PG options. Unfortunately, I did not rent a room or PG, so I can't provide details on the locality.

Admission

The VIT university process was straightforward and transparent. Meeting eligibilty criteria, I accessed the online application form on the offical website, where clear instructions and important deadlines were provided. The university adhered to government-mandated reservation policies, promoting diversity. The System was efficient, but improved communication channels for addressing applicant queries and more interactive guidance sessions could enhance the overall experience. Overall, my admission experience at VIT University was positive, with a focus on fairness and transparency.

Specific schedule is not followed in college regarding the academic and co curricular activities. Sudden decisions will be taken by the management which is a bit difficult for the students and faculty too. There were times where faculties are fed up of management rules and decisions.
