An Experience of UPES Maths Major

As I had science PCM in my 10+2 and I was quite decent in mathematics so I decided to pursue B.Sc honours mathematics as my course in the university. UPES has one of the best faculty members for the maths department. There were adequate number of faculties and the total strength of our class was 14. All the faculties were highly qualified and had innumber of research papers published on their name. As the subject mathematics is itself very complex so it was obvious that it was difficult to manage a good score in the subject.

The course fee for each semester was Roughly around 70000 but there were many scholarships Provided to the students. The girl child was provided with around 30% scholarship on the total fees while the student who were from Uttarakhand were provided scholarship if they had a domicile of Uttarakhand.

The main reason to choose UPES was it's campus and the exposure it provides. There were inmumber of activities in the university each week. The campus was itself very beautiful and sports facilities were also up to the mark. The annual fest of the university was named as Urja while the Techfest was also conducted. The library was quite big and had three floors and adequate space for sitting and almost all the books were available. There were many clubs in the university the dance club, Music Club, photography club etc. Overall it was a great experience.

The admission process was very simple. As it was the time of covid when i had to apply for the admission in UPES so everything was online. I had PCM as my stream in 10+2 and was very much fond of mathematics, so i was eligible for B. Sc. (Hons) Mathematics. I researched about the various universities that provide this course and found UPES as one of the best overall. After registering on their website and paying the application fee of Rs.1350 , they had scheduled my online interview with one of the faculty of maths department. I cleared the interview and then submitted the fee and got my admission done.
