Course Curriculum Overview
B.Tech CSE is one of the evergreen course. It consists of computer programming fundamentals, working of computer systems and their anatomy. Most of the faculties are PhD holders. They are research oriented and teach well. They are cooperative and also guide students in relevant projects and research works. VIT follow FFCS system - Fully Flexible Credit System, i.e. the students can choose to register under any courses and faculty offered and make the time table which they are comfortable with. Each year has 2 semesters Fall Semester - July to Dec Winter Semester - Jan to May Summer vacation - 2 months Winter vacation - 10-15 days Diwali vacation - 9 days Each semester has 2 mid terms (CATs) and a final exam(FAT). The exams will be in moderate difficulty level. Second CAT will be open-book test, i.e., you will be allowed to carry materials into the examination hall. The grading is relative for most of the courses, i.e., your grade depends on your position in your class.
Internships Opportunities
There are many technical and non-technical roles being offered by various companies for internships. The students can choose if they want to pursue a capstone project in final year or do an internship for a period of 5-6 months. For the capstone project, you will be alloted with a guide and seek any advice from guide regarding the project and relevant research paper should be submitted to any conference or journal for publication.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for placements from 7th semester. There are alot of companies that visit VIT. The placements are centralized, i.e., the placements are combined for vellore, chennai, amaravati and bhopal campuses. The average package is approximately 9LPA. Fees and Financial Aid
The fee is based on the category in which you get in your counselling. There are 5 fee categories. The exact fee might subject to change every year. You can find the fee details below. Campus Life
The VIT has a vary vast and rich campus life. There are alot of student chapters and clubs. Name any interest of yours and you'll relevant club. There is one cultural fest - Vibrance, which will be held for 3 days in February or March and you'll get to experience India's one of the best college fests. The university also holds a technical fest in October called TechoVIT. Every classroom contains a projector and white board for enhanced learning experience. Hostel Facilities
There are total of 4 hostel blocks, each having 15 floors. There are a variety of rooms available - 2, 3, 4, 6 sharing AC/ non AC rooms. All the hostels have common washrooms. 24/7 hot water facility available. Three types of mess available. Veg, Non-veg, Special Veg - only veg Non-veg - Egg everyday morning during breakfast and chicken thrice a week. Admission
The admission to get into VIT for B.Tech is via VITEEE. The process to fill the application form and relevant details can be found in the this web link - https://viteee.vit.ac.in/ There shall be no reservation benefits in VITEEE. After attempting the VITEEE exam, you will be ranked based on your performance in a week approximately. Based on the ranks, the candidates will be given counselling slots for their choice filling of campus, course and category. Please read the counselling instructions carefully as the rules regarding course allotment and refunds are subject to change The VITEEE exam should be attended in person, but the counselling process in online.
