Remarks

If administration behaves properly and coordinates with students, Jamia will be again one of best university. Students are ready to bear the faculties but cannot handle the administration behaviour. Just for getting signatures done, we need to visit office atleast 5-6 times. Our results are uploaded after a delay of 6-7 months. And admission goes on, even after 3-4 months after commencement of course.

Entrance Preview

Jamia hosts its own entrance exam for taking in students for its B. Sc. course. I too applied for it and cleared. The exam is not that tough but primarily checks your speed. There wasn't any follow up interview after the entrance exam. I chose this college because of its good reputation and it is a central university. Apart from that, the campus is just marvelous and somehow, I have had a good exposure of Delhi because of this college in the past 3 years. A wide range of interesting subjects and the various job fields fascinated me to choose this course.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The subjects and course are eloquent and covers all the basic and advanced topics, an undergraduate maths students should know. However, I think that the overall faculty and administrative is disastrous. We have well-equipped labs but hardly any time to attend practicals. I think there are some research initiatives taken by the college because teachers often mention that while teaching, however, I am not aware of any such initiatives personally. We had some electives in 2nd year and we have some electives now also (3rd year).

Internships Opportunities

As far as, getting an internship from college is considered, we don't get any internship. Though students are free to grab internship off campus and some teachers really encourage us to do that. The stipend of the students varies, as students apply for the internship themselves.

Placement Experience

5

The placement is good only for some courses like Mass communication, B. Tech and Law department. These departments of our university are one of the best in INDIA so is their placement. Though, the administration can put more efforts to invite more companies on the campus. Since my course (B. Sc. Maths Honours) definitely needs a post-graduate degree to fetch a good job so there aren't many companies visiting the campus to recruit us. I do not know much details about other departments and so, I do not know about the average package status either.

College Events

5

Annually, we have one grand fest of college titled "TAMILI MELA" where every department puts up stalls and their respective interactive demonstration. Apart from this, we have a departmental fest in the even semester where each activity and stall of that fest is organized on a single theme. Both of them are on large scale with a huge sponsorship of around 3-4 lakhs per department with approximately 1,500 footfall. NSS, fully controlled by students, does a great job. Though, as an individual, we need to go through a lot of official formalities but administration comes out to be heck. They don't cooperate. Still, Maths department hasn't organized any single fest in last 3 years. College authorities don't contribute a single favour.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Since Jamia Milia Islamia University is a private university, the fee is quite low and really affordable for anyone, who wishes to get an admission here. I pay a sum of Rs. 7700 per year and that is quite affordable and very less when compared to the overall grooming, a student gets here. Whatever the fee is, it is very worth it.

Fees and Financial Aid

The Reserved Muslim SC/STs pay 7,700 annually and get 10000 as single scholarship. There are various governmental scholarships for minorities, not only for Jamia but for any reserved student. And In my knowledge, every reserved student get this scholarship. There is no scholarship for people belonging to general category.

Campus Life

5

We have a giant stadium equipped with every needed sport equipments. And, then drama club and other dance clubs, fully run by students, are doing a great job. Even many celebrities and sportsperson visit Jamia University. Every week we get to see a nukad natak in the open canteen. And we have ample of time too to participate in them.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

"There is nepotism on a large scale while allotting hostel. Plus there is a scarcity of hostel. Though, I wasn't reading in the hostel but those who are residing, they are deep in politics and demonstrations. There is a deep network among hostellers about all the political activities. Each room is shared among three students, necessarily from different course and seniority. They pay around 10k per annum for hostel and quality of food is okayish.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of JAMIA includes: Shah Rukh Khan, RJ Naved, Virender Sehwag, Rajesh Yadav(from Nazar Battu) and Barkha Datt too. I personally had no interaction with alumni. Often many reputed almuni attend the annual fest and give speech. Though there is no particular contribution as such.

Exam Structure

The best part of exams is that, previous year paper often repeat. So solving all previous year questions is enough to fetch you good marks. That's good for students in terms of marks but not really in terms of their overall grooming. students just stick to past year papers and do not solve anything new. And timing of class are too flexible. We get enough time in between to chill.

Faculty

2

Basically, most of the teachers are in the college just because of reservation. And hence, they take the things for granted. Most of the teachers just come, narrate theorems for the sake of narrating and depart. Though some teachers are quite good, but again, the number of such teachers is very low. However, there isn't any discrimination from their side. Talking about their qualifications, most of them are alumni of either AMU or JAMIA itself, so I can say, almost 90% teachers are from reserved background, so their experience doesn't make any difference in the quality of their teaching. Interaction?! They are arrogant, just like most of the government officials, however, some are very nice and very frank. Those teachers remember each and every student and often ask about their studies. Basically, the teachers one who have had their education from colleges apart from AMU or JAMIA are interactive and others are arrogant.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The curriculum consists of relatable topics and interesting ones as well this is what quite influenced me to take this course. We have labs which help us learn how to prepare various organic compounds which are used in many day to day products . The course also has a 4th year research program. There should be more equipments in lab for the research. The frequency is good for exams being conducted and there level is also quite good

The students become eligible for the placements provided by the college in their 3rd year, while they can pursue internship offered by the college in previous years. Average sized companies visited the campus with lots of students being placed for jobs. The highest package I am not aware of but lowest was of around 300000 pa. I plan to pursue masters after my graduation degree.

Students become eligible for campus placements from the 6th semester. I don't know a lot about campus placements but I know that there is a training and placement cell in our college that provides good packages to many students. Some students got more than 7lpa last year. I will be doing my Post graduation after college and will make a career in academics.
