Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is standardised so nothing to complain about really. I do think they should cut down on the assignments. Faculty hails from famed colleges across india. The reason I chose this course was because I was interested in the field. Student: faculty ratio is decent enough. In first yr we have one faculty member teaching 70 odd students at a time. Exam process was slightly different. The mid term exams occur in the middle of the semester and account for 30% of the marks. End sem occurs at the end of the semester. Each semester is 4 months long.(end sems account for 50% marks while the rest 20 are given through quizzes, assignments etc).
Internships Opportunities
I haven't been offered any internships as a first year student. However, the third year's regularly receive internship offers. Just recently, Dell came to our college to recruit some third year students. I don't know about the stipend details.
Placement Experience
Students become eligible for placements in 6th semester. Placements are somewhat decent. The median of CSE branch last year was 12LPA. Several companies visit each year so it's not possible to list their name. Highest package last year was 39LPA. 90% CSE students get placement. After getting the degree I plan to work in the best possible company.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fees structure follows a hike policy. In 4 yrs, they will take cumulative 10 lakhs(Including hostel). I personally haven't received any scholarship or internship yet. The odissa students on the other hand have received some financial assistance.b
Campus Life
Life at campus can be fun. The only thing lacking is a night life as our hostel in time is 9:30 PM. Clubs are pretty good and active and organise several events. Our annual fest is called "Advaita" and is a big event famous across odissa. It occurs in late Feb to early march. Tech fest D³ is new and is gaining some name for itself. It occurs in October. Books and journal are easily available. Classrooms are very basic. Only have a projector and a blackboard. Grand championship is our sports event and all branches compete to win a trophy. It can be fun. Sports club also operates year around and is one of the most active clubs. Megaheartz is a social group run by iiit bhubaneswar students that always holds fun events for other students.
Hostel Facilities
Room is a basic 3-seater. You get 3 beds and 3 almirahs for 3 students. It's a decently sized room. Meal is probably the biggest issue in the college. It is very bad. Most students opt to eat out. Registration for hostel is an easy automatic process that happens on it own when youa re enrolling in the college. It is very cheap so very affordable.
Admission
The entrance exam for the admission process is JEE. Each and every branch has its separate cut off. The general cut off rank for CSE was 37-38k rank in mains. The application process occurs through josaa counseling. Reservation benefits exist ofc. The difference is that there is also some reservations for odissa candidates. The admission process is well handled.
