Remarks
The life we live here does help us develop our personality. The only issue one can have here is the language problem if the person is coming from North. Overall the college is very good and has kept on raising the bar. One more good thing about the University is that you can actually find democracy here. People from all cast and religion respect eachother equally.
Entrance Preview
I gave the exam SRMJEE for admission into this University. After the results were out for this and the other colleges, this college offered me more quality course and curriculum than any other. No interview process is there. I just had to come on the day of counselling and select the stream I wished for out of the available ones to me. I chose this course because I had longed for it.
Course Curriculum Overview
Computer science is one of the best courses offered by SRM. The faculty is very helpful in your overall development. There is a huge focus on practical learning. In fact we have a online portal for the practical classes in which we are given around 300 questions out of which we have to complete a minimum of 100 to clear the semester. There are a few research teams here. The best of them being Next Tech Lab where students learn and develop various new skills which are beyond the imagination of any ordinary person. We are also offered many Electives. In fact we can take a maximum of 3 elective subjects every semester.
Internships Opportunities
Our college does provide internship in the 3rd year. I haven't had one because I am still in the second year I can't give much details about this
Placement Experience
The placements is good. In CSE department 100% placement os assured. Major companies like Google, Amazon, Hyundai, etc visit our campus. The average package is around 4 lakh
College Events
We have 2 major fest in our college. One is AARUSH which is a technical fest and the other is MILAN which is a cultural fest. In both of them, colleges from all over the country come to participate. Apart from these the are 7 more fest but organized on a smaller scale, two of them being exclusively for the freshers. All of them are very well organized and it is the students themselves who do all the work in making it a success.
Fee Structure And Facilities
To be honest, studying at SRM can be very expensive for a student coming from a middle class family as the college fees is around 2.3-3.5 Lakh per annum on average depending on your rank in SRMJEE.
Fees and Financial Aid
Yes the college does provide scholarships to the good performers. No i was never one of them. Yes the college does help in getting loan as the banks are also invited on the counselling day. The students can discuss about the loan details hands on with the bank officials there itself.
Campus Life
For all the three above questions, there is only one answer. It is you who has to take the initiative to do anything. Nothing is spoon fed. There is a lot one can explore in this institution.
Hostel Facilities
I residing in a hostel. The rooms are 3 sharing and 4 sharing ones. There is quite a lot of space in the room with a wardrobe for each student. We do not fave PGs around but we do have 2 to 3 residential complex at 10 mins walking distance from the college. The flats in these complexes are mainly occupied by the students themselves and the rent is also quite low. For non AC hostel, the fees is 1.09 lakh and for the AC hostel it is 2.1 lakh. Do not expect much from the mess because the food is one thing you won't like to talk about. It is horrendous. But you do have many restaurants inside the hostel complex itself where you get decent food at a very cheap rate.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is huge and very helpful. Someone or the other person from all professions are always on a visit to our campus and share their life experiences and also interact with the students.
Exam Structure
It does make you feel tiring at one point when the second Cycle Tests start because the is hardly any time left for the end sem exams to start after the end of the former.
Faculty
The faculty is very helpful and appropriately qualified. It all depends on your own approach. If your way of approach is good, you will surely be helped by the faculty members. Talking about the standards of teaching, no one is going to spoon feed you. You have to work hard and get the most out of the teacher because the teacher is always in a hurry to finish the syllabus before the exams.
