Jadavpur University Update

I am a fresher in Jadavapur University's Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Course. I got into Jadavpur University through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) . I got a General Merit Rank of 1215 in WBJEE. The application form for WBJEE is released every year in its official website.The form fees is Rs 500 for General Male Candidates. In 2023 , the exam was conducted in the month of April. After the result of wbjee is released in the official website of the board, one has to go for physical verification to Jadavpur University if he or she is allotted JU in the counselling process. After that, if one wants to take admission in JU, he or she has to get a provisional admission in the college. After few days, JU calls provisionally admitted students to take Final Admission. For Mechanical Engineering, one has to pay Rs 5,710 as a fees for the first two years. Then the student is given a Money Receipt with his or her Roll Number written on it. Overall,admission process is smooth.

I got Mechanical Engineering according to my rank in WBJEE. Apart from that, I also had interest in Mechanical Engineering. The course curriculum is very detailed. Nearly all the teachers have completed their PhDs. The batch of Mechanical Engineering consists of 145 students. The batch is divided into two sections and each section is divided into three subsections. Each year is divided into two semesters and before each semester exam one has to appear for two Class tests (Internals).

Jadavpur University offers many internship opportunities. Many Internship projects are based on advanced technologies and research areas, which play a major role in the understanding of their subjects.

Normally, students become eligible for campus placements in their final year. The placements statistics of the year 2023 are outstanding. In the year 2023, Mechanical Engineering Department recorded a placement percentage of 100 percent. 92 Companies visited for placements. Core placements had a share of 64 percent, Consulting, Analytics and Finance Placements - 22 percent and IT placements - 14 percent. Median CTC offered was 8 LPA and the Average CTC offered was 8.42 LPA. Highest package of 22.75 LPA was given by a Software company - Increff. Highest package in the Core Sector was given by 'Cair Oil and Gas'. The CTC was 14.1 LPA. Many other companies like PWC, ZS Associates, Airbus, Accenture, Tata Metaliks, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, ICICI Bank, HSBC, Cognizant, etc visited for placements.

The course fee is affordable. The total fees for Bachelor of mechanical engineering is around rupees 10,000 to rupees 11,000. The college provides scholarship for financially weak students. Life at Jadavpur University is full of activities. Both Annual Fest(Sanskriti) and Tech Fest (Srijan) are organized every year. Numerous Clubs are present in the college. One can participate in one or more than one clubs of his or her interest. Some of the clubs are Motorsports Club, Mechatronics Club, Aerospace Club, Photography Club, Music Club, Mountaineering Club, etc. College has a Central Library which has a huge collection of books and journals. Usually, the books suggested by teachers are available in the library. Apart from that, every department has its own Departmental Library.
