Course Curriculum Overview
Instrumentation and Electronics engineering is a versatile subject and it increases the exposure of a student to a great deal. It covers almost every important subjects required to join the industry and, also makes the students ready for any Masters-admission exam. The department has adequate teachers and the faculty to student ratio is 1:12. All the faculty members have a PhD and are prominent researchers in their respective fields. The teaching method is quite convenient and student friendly. Smart Projectors are installed in every classroom so that teachers can deliver important presentation during their classes. The class tests and the semester exams are rated from moderate to difficult by students. In order to pass with a good score, studying the class notes is essential.
Internships Opportunities
Multiple companies like Texas Instruments, Cairn Oil and Gas, Wells Fargo, Accenture, PWC, etc, offered Analog VLSE intern, SDE intern and Analyst roles to the students. They were assigned live projects and their outcomes were noted and analyzed before offering PPO offers.
Placement Experience
The placement season starts right after the end of 6th semester and they are continued till the end of the 8th semester. Different companies from multiple domains like Texas Instruments, Amazon, Oracle, ZS-Associates, Deutsche Bank, PWC visits the college during the placement season and the number of offers sometimes exceeds the class strength. The highest package was offered by Schroedinger (52 LPA) and the average package till now is 15 LPA. Almost 90 to 100 percent students get placed every year. I am planning to move abroad for Masters, I won't applying for a job just after gradutation.
Fees and Financial Aid
The University is maintained and overseen by the UGC and hence, their is no fees hike. The cost of study is comparably low as compared to other universities and, the ROI (return of investment) after placement is almost 200 to 300 percent. Financially weak or meritorious students can avail both goverment and private scholarship schemes such as the Reliance Merit Schlarship, SVMCM, etc.
Campus Life
The campus experience varies from person to person but overall, it is usually quite comfortable for people. Lots of fests and events like Srijan (tech-fest), Sanskriti (arts and culture fest) and, U-turn (Sports-Meet) are organized by the engineering faculty to make sure that the students are engaged in proper physical activity apart from studying. The campus library is a 2 storey building with lots of books, a reading hall, a computer room, a journal section, etc. The classrooms are quite spacious and airy with all the required amenities. The campus has all the sports equipments and courts for different kinds of activities. There are multiple functional clubs and societies in the university like the Code-club, Mathematics Club, Chess club, Anime club, International automation society, IEEE, etc.
Admission
One can get admitted to this course by clearing the WBJEE exam with a rank under 1000. This is one of the primary criteria for admission and the other one is that, a student must score atleast 60 percent marks in their secondary and senior secondary exams in order to be eligible for admission. The admission forms are made available during the counselling session and every bit of information regarding admission is provided in the website provided by Jadavpur University. I was a general student but, the reservation and EWS benefits may be obtained by submitting valid certificates issued by appropriate authorities. The overall admission process is student friendly but, quite slow. It needs to be more efficient and quicker so that, time is not wasted in un-necessary matters.
