Course Curriculum Overview

All the faculty members at JGEC are highly qulified in their respective fields. Each HOD holds a PhD from prestigious institutions. The professors possess extensive knowlledge in their subjects , ensuring a high standerd of education for the studdents.

There are lot of opportunities for internsips. Top MNCs and companies , amzone, google, atlasian, microsoft , swiggy, ibm, pwc, l&T, etc provide internships with good stipend upto 1LPM. Many compnies provied research opportunities in their projects.

Our college provides great opportunies to the students to placed their dream compnies.Top MNCs and compnies , amazon, hexaware, sms group, ibm , L&T etc are visited our campus. In the recent placement session the highest package is 60 LPA and avarage package is 7-8 LPA.

Fees and Financial Aid

For CSE and ECE students , 4 years semester fees is only 64000 While for IT students it is 12800. And for ME,EE, CE , it is almost 48000.For scholarship support ther are SVMCM, Alumni scholarship, And lot of private scholarships. In our college almost all students are placed. The highest salary offerd is 60 LPA and the avarage slarly is 7-8 LPA.

Campus Life

In our college every year our college organised an annual fest, JECLET and a tech fest , SRISTI. There is a well maintaine library. Football, cricket, Volyball, busketball etc are played. there are many clubs , sprts club, CFI, dance club etc.

There are availabe hostels for both girls and boys students. JGEC hostel facilities include well furnished rooms and equipped with modern applicances.24*7 supply of water, 24 * 7 electricity and security are availbable.

Admission

JGEC offers admission to both UG and PG programs. The available programs include B.Tech and M.Tech. For B.Tech admissions , the college considers WBJEE scores and for lateral entry considers JELET scores, while for Mtech admissions candidate can use either WB PGET or GATE score. WBJEE CSE cut off rank - 3000- 3500 WBJEE IT cut off rank - 4000- 4500 WBJEE ECE cut off rank - 6500

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department.
