Campus is very large and green. So campus life is enjoyable, Excellant sport facilities are also available
Faculties are very helpful, Classes are taken regularly.
Placements are good, all students are placed.

Dislikes

Labs can be upgraded, although they are not bad

I opted for this course as I was keen to study Electrical Engineering. My wbjee rank was 5500 and so i could opt for this college. Here faculties are very cooperative , especially in our branch. High quality teaching and regular classes are provided to students

Class Size: 63Course Fees: INR 12000 per year

Placement Experience

After 3rd year, students are eligible for placements. Companies like Infosys, TCS, Tata Power, Voltas, LNT, Adani group, visit our college for placements. Highest package is 60 LPA, but average is 9 LPA.Most of the students are placed.

Fees and Financial Aid

Course fees is like 18000 a year, Hostel fees is like 28000 to 32000 a year, Semester fees is around Rs. 1200 per semester. Most of the stidents here opt for Swami Vivekananda Scholarship. Alumni also provide scholarships. Placement is descent, average package is 9 LPA

Campus Life

The Cultiral Fest which takes place in our college is known as JECLAT. It is generally conducted in March. Sristi is the tech fest which occurs every year. Library is very large and variety of books are avilable. There are football, cricket grounds in the college along with badminton, volley and basketball courts. There are clubs like Coding Club, Hardware club, Club for space research, Club to teach poor students free of cost

Hostel Facilities

Hostel can be opted through a short process. in the room there are seperate beds, tables and cupboards . Hostel fees is Rs 16000 per semester. Meal tastes descent. Menu includes mixed veg, vegetables, chicken, fish, paneer etc

Hostel Fee: INR 32000 per year

Admission

Admission in this college occurs through West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination, popularly known as WBJEE. There are three rounds of counselling of WBJEE and admission occurs in every round but upgradation of choice doesnt occur in the third round. There are reserved seats for OBC, SC,ST candidates

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

Unbiased Review of JGEC

I applied to a few other government engineering colleges but i ended up choosing JGEC.The main reasons: JGEC is a well established,fully government owned autonomous college,with good accreditation.It also has a long history since 1961,which made me trust its academic environment.Compared to other colleges i applied to ,JGEC felt more stable and credible.It also has a reasonable structure and good campus infrastructure,labs and oppurtunities for intership .There is also a good scope for higher studies like GATE.The marks vs rank went extremely high in WBJEE 2025.That's why i didn't get a college i applied for which is near my home. You can take admission by giving WBJEE and JELET only.As it is a government college you can only take admission if you get a good rank .There is also different cut-offs for diff catagory.The overall admission process is was very smooth and systematic....Read More

I did applied for the Jadavpur University but I didn't get an opportunity there . But it was my and my father's wish that I study near my home and as JGEC is not so far from my home I confirmed the seat here. Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College

According to my West Bengal joint entrance examination rank I said for the counselling in the first round I got Kalyani Government Engineering College with IT department but that was with the reservation under EWS quota with rank 2869. As I was not able to get me EWS certificate my admission there was cancelled and then according to my preference I got Jalpaiguri Government Engineering College with electronic and communication engineering department. The admission process was quite easy I went to the college for the PI reporting in the college.
